DC Pulls Controversial Content Suspected of Being Produced by Generative A.I.

DC has pulled three upcoming variant covers after allegations that the covers were produced with generative A.I.

The character debuted in Batman: The Animated Series in the self-titled episode “Bane,” voiced by Henry Silva. BTAS‘ iteration of the Dark Knight’s most physically formidable foe portrays Bane as a former inmate in a Cuban prison containing the most dangerous convicts ever captured. While imprisoned, Bane was chosen as a test subject for the government project “Gilgamesh” to create super-soldiers with the drug Venom. With his newly acquired superhuman abilities, Bane escaped and became a professional assassin.

Created by writer Chuck Dixon and artist Graham Nolan, the character first appeared in 1993’s Batman: on Vengeance of Bane #1. Ever since his comic book introduction, Bane is typically depicted as one of the most dangerous members of Batman’s infamous rogues gallery. Both brutally strong and exceptionally intelligent, Bane holds the singular distinction of being the only villain to have “broken the bat,” pushing the Caped Crusader to his physical and mental limits in 1993’s Batman: Knightfall storyline.
