X-Men: Marvel Reveals Which Wolverine is Better Than the Rest

[[{“value”:”

The following contains major spoilers for Weapon X-Men #3, on sale now from Marvel Comics.

Wolverine has always been the best at what he does, but one version of him is better than all the rest. Surprisingly, they are also the newest Wolverine to call the Multiverse their home.

After months of hunting the psychic entity known as Onslaught across the Multiverse, the eponymous team of Weapon X-Men #3 find themselves making an uneasy alliance with their enemy. In exchange for solving the problem of worldwide immortality that has befallen one reality, the heroes of Weapon X-Men are promised that their own native timelines will remain free from Onslaught’s influence. Unfortunately, sealing that deal means going up against an army of supernatural threats, including Dracula, Selene, and even a possessed Ulysses Bloodstone. Once the dust has settled, however, the Wolverines have once again proven why they are the best at what they do, especially Jane Howlett.

Introduced in the very first issue of Weapon X-Men, Jane Howlett is one of several versions of Wolverine who were brought together from across the Multiverse to take on the threat of Onslaught. Hailing from the early 1900s of Earth-1281, Jane is the one member of the team who doesn’t yet sport an Adamantium skeleton. That being said, Jane still wields the usual claws and healing factor, not to mention a battlefield prowess that has drawn nothing but respect from her fellow Wolverines.

Along with Jane are four other Wolverines including those hailing from the Age of Apocalypse, Marvel Zombies, and Earth X timelines, as well as the fan-favorite Old Man Logan himself. Apart from bringing this unique cast of characters together for the first time, Weapon X-Men has also given readers glimpses into the lives of each member of the team beyond when they were last seen in their respective realities. Chief among these is the Wolverine of Earth-X, whose marriage to Jean Grey fell apart shortly after he had his own powers purposefully dampened.

Nick Fury returns to the pages of Marvel Comics for a trip back to one of his, and Frank Castle’s, most harrowing chapters of all time.

While the original Onslaught was a combination of the psyches of Professor Charles Xavier and Magneto, the Onslaught of Weapon X-Men is a whole new breed of the iconic villain. Instead, this Onslaught was created from a culmination of the consciousnesses of Magneto and Jean Grey, leading to an even more dangerous version of the iconic villain. Initially, a young lineup of X-Men was called upon by the Phoenix Force to do battle against Onslaught, yet when they proved that they were only capable of being a temporary solution, the Phoenix formed the Weapon X-Men in their stead.

Wolverine

Wolverine first appeared in The Incredible Hulk #180, where he battled the Jade Giant to a standstill, before joining Marvel’s X-Men in 1975. Since then, the short-tempered berserker with unbreakable claws has proven himself as one of Marvel’s most popular characters. The mutant hero was also the backbone of the X-Men film franchise, which ran from 2000 to 2020, and critics consider his solo film, Logan, one of the best superhero movies ever made.

Known as an unstoppable tank who can cut through anything, Wolverine isn’t technically one of Marvel’s most powerful heroes but he’s one of the deadliest characters on their roster. Even villains like Magneto and the Juggernaut have learned to be wary of Wolverine’s claws.
