The following contains major spoilers for Ultimate Black Panther #6, on sale now from Marvel Comics.
Marvel Comics’ new Ultimate Universe has put a miraculous new spin on one of the MCU’s most powerful gods.
In a small town in West Africa, a mother and father grieve for their son, whose illness is beyond any help his doctor or a hospital can offer. As seen in the pages of Ultimate Black Panther #6, however, those aren’t the only forms of help available. In a blinding flash of light, a figure who appears to be none other than Khonshu himself appears on the scene, and he is more than happy to lend the boy his healing touch in exchange for nothing more than a little bit of faith.

Introduced in the pages of 1980’s Moon Knight #1 by Doug Moench and Bill Sienkiewicz, Khonshu is the patron god of Marc Spector, as well as every other Moon Knight that has stood in his name. As the God of the Moon and of the Egyptian Ennead, Khonshu is one of the most prominent divine forces that the Marvel Universe has to offer. Over the years, Khonshu’s endeavors have frequently crossed over with those of his fellow gods, not to mention cosmic entities such as the Phoenix Force.
While the Khonshu of the primary Marvel Universe is a well-known and even better-defined character, the Lord Khonshu of the new Ultimate Universe, also known as the reality of Earth-6160, is a far more enigmatic figure. Alongside his counterpart Ra, this Khonshu rules over the Upper and Lower Kingdoms of the African continent. As such, both Khonshu and Ra are members of the Maker’s Council, the shadow cabinet of world leaders secretly working in concert together at the behest of the villainous Reed Richards of the original Ultimate Universe known as the Maker.
Spider-Woman Uncovers the Horrifying Truth Behind Marvel’s New Super Team
Spider-Woman’s West Coast adventures give her the chance to uncover the origins of Marvel’s latest super team — and they are not what they seem.
The current Ultimate Universe was discovered by the Maker in 2023’s Ultimate Invasion #1 by Jonathan Hickman and Bryan Hitch. Using his knowledge of the lives of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and deadliest villains and world events, the Maker was able to effectively rewrite Earth-6160’s history in his own image. In doing so, the Maker gave rise to a world where superheroes were non-existent, and where hardly anyone would ever dare rise against him. It wasn’t until after Howard Stark led the charge against the Maker personally that the villain was contained, albeit for a predetermined amount of time that is quickly running out.
