The Marvel Universe is finally beginning to remember the long-lost sidekick it never knew it had in the first place.

Spider-Boy #11 opens to what would be an otherwise ordinary day at Stillwell Farms, if not for the sudden emergence of thousands if not millions of memories all over the globe. As it turns out, people are suddenly beginning to remember Spider-Boy and his years of high-flying adventures. More importantly, his own mother is finally starting to remember Bailey Briggs as her son, leading to the family reunion he has spent his entire life fighting for.

Introduced in the pages of 2023’s Spider-Man #7 by Dan Slott and Mark Bagley, the young Bailey Briggs, better known as Spider-Boy, has one of the strangest origin stories of all time. Rather than being bitten by a radioactive spider, Bailey was the creation of Melodia Stillwell, aka Madame Monstrosity, whose work gave rise to most of Spider-Man’s iconic, animalistic foes. At least, that’s the story Bailey knows, whereas the rest of the Marvel Universe doesn’t remember him at all thanks to his existence being a byproduct of the reweaving of the Web of Life and Destiny.

As such, Bailey can recall his entire life with clarity, whereas the likes of Spider-Man, the Avengers, and even his own mother have no recollection of him. This has driven Bailey to the fringes of life in New York City, although he has found plenty of help along the way. Unfortunately, Bailey has also been devastated by the various villains who have hounded him. That’s on top of the fact that not even the woman who gave birth to him has any clue who he is.

One of the deadliest Spider-Man villains of all time has just set his sights on Miles Morales’ love life, and it is more personal than he knows.

More recently, Bailey and his allies have managed to end Madame Monstrosity’s operations, all while securing Bailey’s freedom. But following the heroes’ victory, Bailey’s mother stayed behind at Stillwell Farms with the humanimals she knew best instead of trying to build a life with the son she never knew. Thankfully, Bailey wasn’t alone in his return. He had an entire team of heroes including Captain America and even Marvel’s Toy Soldier to accompany him on his journey and, presumably, continue helping him as he adjusts to whatever life has in store for him next.

Spider-Man

Since his first appearance in 1962, Spider-Man has almost always been Marvel Comics’ most popular character. Known for his sense of humor and bad luck as well as his selflessness and super-strength, Spider-Man has helmed countless titles over the years, Spider-Man’s most prominent comics include The Amazing Spider-Man, Web of Spider-Man, and Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man.

Peter Parker was the original Spider-Man but the Spider-Verse has become an important part of the character’s lore in recent years. Multiversal and future Spider-Men include Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Miguel O’Hara and Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham. This provided the premise for the popular Spider-Verse film trilogy, which makes Miles its primary hero.

Spider-Man is also the basis of several live-action film franchises and numerous animated television series. He is one of the most recognizable characters in the world. While he’s changed a lot over the decades, Steve Ditko and Stan Lee gave the world an unforgettable hero when they created Spider-Man.
