The X-Men are back to a proverbial square one following the fall of Krakoa. Now, the “From the Ashes” era launches several new books for the mutants, including a new ongoing title for a version of Wolverine.
Laura Kinney: Wolverine is a new series based on Logan’s daughter, also known as X-23. Featuring a returning writer for the character, the book is the latest ongoing featuring the character in the mantle her father started. It will also delve deeper into the post-Krakoa world and showcase why the mutants need Laura’s help as Wolverine.

The Newest Wolverine Book Puts Laura Kinney On Her Darkest Mission Yet
Written by Erica Schultz and drawn by Giada Belviso, the new Laura Kinney: Wolverine book is one of many new X-Men titles being launched by Marvel Comics. The new comic book builds upon the new status quo for mutants, who are no longer at the top of the proverbial food chain following the end of the Krakoa era. The new book for the mutant also known as X-23 will perfectly represent this, with Laura Kinney forced to tackle issues and dangers that even the X-Men or her fellow mutants in the book NYX won’t touch. This requires her sharp senses and claws, with Wolverine striking out at the individuals and groups seeking to exploit mutants. Amid these harrowing events, Schultz promises a personal journey as the current Wolverine questions her path.
“We want to show you all different sides of Laura. There will be laughing and crying,” teased Schultz. “Laura has dealt with a lot, and when she’s met her other clones, she’s asked herself ‘Is that the person I’m supposed to be? Am I fated to be that person? Should I take my own path, or end up like Logan?’ She decides to forge her own path. This will be her solo adventure.”
The series reunites Schultz with the character, as the writer had previously written the book X-23: Deadly Regenesis. Revealed at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Laura Kinney: Wolverine will be one of the last books of the year to be released that tie into the current “From the Ashes” era of X-Men comic books. Along with Schultz and Belviso, the cover art for issue #1, which will be available on 12/11/2024, is done by Elena Casagrande.

Marvel Is Launching Several New X-Men Titles
Initially spearheaded by writer Jonathan Hickman, the “Krakoan Age” of X-Men comic books lasted from 2019 to 2024. The new “From the Ashes” books will deal with the fallout of that storyline’s end, with a few books already launched. The main X-Men comics include Phoenix and NYX, the latter of which also features X-23/Wolverine. Besides the Laura Kinney: Wolverine book, other titles that will be launching are Uncanny X-Men, X-Force, X-Factor, Exceptional X-Men, Wolverine, Storm and Psylocke.
These will be ongoings, while Dazzler, Mystique and the new Sentinels comic book are limited series. The “adjectiveless” Wolverine title is centered around Logan/Wolverine, giving him and his daughter solo titles. Daken, Wolverine’s son and Laura’s half-brother, was the secret protagonist of the recent Hellverine miniseries. Wolverine launches in September, a few months before the Laura Kinney book. With the era having three separate X-Men teams, there will be a lot for fans to enjoy, especially for those who can’t get enough of Wolverine.
