Spider-Man: Reign takes place in the tragic future of Earth-70237, a world defined by its utter lack of any notable heroes, or villains, both of which have been replaced by New York City’s overtly militant police force, The Reign. Under the control of the malevolent Mayor Walters, The Reign kept the people of NYC from ever stepping out of line or trying to make something better of their lives. When Walters ordered the activation of his WEBB system, it was under the guise of preventing any outside attacks from reaching any New Yorkers, though it also turned the city into a prison unto itself.
In 2007’s original Spider-Man: Reign, fans saw an elder Peter Parker push back against the likes of Walters and The Reign, as well as the mayor’s superpowered Sinner Six. Consisting of Venom, Electro, Scorpion, Hydro-Man, Mysterio, and Kraven the Hunter, the Sinner Six stood as the epitome of Walters’ power. Thanks to the efforts of a reformed Sandman, who lost his daughter to The Reign’s violence, Spider-Man was able to defeat the Sinner Six, all while bringing down Walters’ stranglehold over the city.

Spider-Man
Since his first appearance in 1962, Spider-Man has almost always been Marvel Comics’ most popular character. Known for his sense of humor and bad luck as well as his selflessness and super-strength, Spider-Man has helmed countless titles over the years, Spider-Man’s most prominent comics include The Amazing Spider-Man, Web of Spider-Man, and Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man.
Peter Parker was the original Spider-Man but the Spider-Verse has become an important part of the character’s lore in recent years. Multiversal and future Spider-Men include Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Miguel O’Hara and Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham. This provided the premise for the popular Spider-Verse film trilogy, which makes Miles its primary hero.
Spider-Man is also the basis of several live-action film franchises and numerous animated television series. He is one of the most recognizable characters in the world. While he’s changed a lot over the decades, Steve Ditko and Stan Lee gave the world an unforgettable hero when they created Spider-Man.
