EXCLUSIVE: Ted Naifeh’s Crumrin Chronicles Comes to a Close
[[{“value”:”
Ted Naifeh’s long-running and critically acclaimed magic series at Oni Press, The Crumrin Chronicles, is coming to a close this October with the final graphic novel in the series, The Crumrin Chronicles Volume 3: The Wild and Innocent, and CBR has an exclusive preview of the series, which will draw a long and beloved series to a close.
Back in 2002, Ted Naifeh began the adventures of Courtney Crumrin and her Grand-Uncle Aloysius, in the pages of the first Courtney Crumrin miniseries. Courtney was just a pre-teen in the story when it began, effectively abandoned by her clueless parents, but Courtney soon found herself exposed to a world of magic and adventure through her Uncle Aloysius. Well, over the years, Courtney has grown up, and now she is now a big sister to her “brother,” Will, who is actually Aloysius’ long-lost brother, who had been lost for a century, but was now back, and still a teenager, living with Courtney and her self-absorbed parents. In recent years, Will has taken over the starring role in the Crumrin family adventures with the graphic novels now dubbed The Crumin Chronicles.

Who are the stars of the Crumrin Chronicles?
Naturally, Will Crumrin is the star of this new series of graphic novels that is coming to a close in October, but he is also joined by his trusty best friend, Tucker, and Tucker’s girlfriend, Cinammon. Tucker is a brilliant and loyal friend, but they also have nearly every allergy known to humanity, and so it puts Tucker at a bit of a liability in certain scary situations. However, they’ve more than proven their bravery in past circumstances. Cinanmon is a goth girl who doesn’t really get along with Will, but they do their best to be civil with each other for Tucker’s sake.
Will’s parents are so oblivious, they are barely even characters in the series, as they haven’t improved in their attentiveness department since Courtney was still young.
REVIEW: Oni Press’ Invasive #1
Cullen Bunn and Jesús Hervás’ Invasive #1 brings medical horror to the pages of comic books, depicting the darkness in humanity. Here’s CBR’s review.
What happened in the preview pages for the final Crumrin Chronicles?
In the preview pages, we see that Cinnamon is telling scary stories to some local kids at the library where Tucker works. We see the awkwardness of Will and Cinnamon’s relationship, as Will can’t help but feel sorry for the lost kids in the stories that Cinnamon is telling. Meanwhile, Cinnamon plans a big camp trip for her and Tucker, but Tucker is clearly out of sorts about the whole thing, but for now, they are claiming that it is their father’s fault that they might not be able to go.
Will will miss his best friend for the summer, but he’ll assuredly end up on the trip with Tucker and Cinnamon, and it might come down to Will and Cinamon working through their differences if they want to save the day.
The final Crumrin Chronicles graphic novel is due out on October 10th.
