DC Launches New JSA and New Gods Series

[[{“value”:”

As part of its upcoming “DC All-In” publishing initiative, DC announced two new series at Comic-Con International at San Diego, to go along with the previously announced Justice League Unlimited. Like that series, both books are team series, with Jeff Lemire and Diego Olortegui launching JSA, and Ram V and Evan Cagle launching New Gods.

The series will be debuting in October as part of “DC All-In,” which is all about jumping on points for DC’s current titles (including a number of new creative teams on a bunch of books), and launching the Absolute Universe, and, now, apparently also about launching new titles, as well.

DC Reveals the Absolute Universe

Scott Snyder and Joshua Williamson revealed DC’s new Absolute Comics line, as well as how it ties in with DC’s overall universe in DC All-In

One of the major factors in DC All-In is tied to the mysterious ending of Absolute Power. We don’t know what that ending will be exactly, but it will involve Darkseid in a major way, and, in fact, it appears as though Darkseid is the key to the creation of the Absolute Universe (imagine being a superhero on a world created by DARKSEID). Naturally, then, Darkseid’s role in these events will tie into this new series, which will pair Ram V with his acclaimed Detective Comics cover artist, Evan Nagle.

Ram V noted about the project (DC released a Pete Woods piece of promotional artwork featuring Orion, Lightray, Big Barda, Mister Miracle and Metron by the Source Wall), “Absolute and All In triggers a cosmic imbalance which starts this spiral between New Genesis and apocalypse.” The series is also specifically about fatherhood.

The DC Absolute Universe’s First Three Titles, Revealed

With the announcement of the Absolute Universe, DC has revealed the stars of the first three titles that will launch in October.

DC shared even more first look art for JSA than for New Gods, as we saw not only the cover (which ties in with the DC All-In cover design theme of the month), but two interior pages from the new series by Lemire and Olortegui, featuring what appears to be an argument at the Justice Society’s iconic round table, and also Doctor Fate caught up in some magical shenanigans.

Most notably, though, DC shared rosters for the book, and while there was a Justice Society cast, there was also an INFINITY INC. cast, made up of mostly legacy versions of the classic Justice Society characters, like Alan Scott’s children, Jade and Obsidian…

It is unclear whether these teams are supposed to be separate, or whether Infinity Inc. is a faction WITHIN the Justice Society of America, but whatever the case may be, it looks like there is some intrigue here with the team. Jeff Lemire spoke about the new book, noting, “This is a book I dreamed of writing all my life.

As we get closer to October, DC will likely release even more information about these two new series, so keep watching CBR for more details!
