Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman Rely One of DC’s Youngest Heroes

[[{“value”:”

The DC Universe has collided with the world of MultiVersus, and the daughter of two of the greatest New Gods of all time is at the center of it.

MultiVersus: Collision Detected #1 finds Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman all plagued by visions of strange, almost cartoonish symbols that none of them can even begin to comprehend. Eventually, the Trinity are brought to the suburban home of their old allies, Big Barda and Mister Miracle, though neither of their fellow heroes are home. Instead, there is only Big Barda and Mister Miracle’s daughter, Avia, and her new best friend – Bugs Bunny.

While MultiVersus: Collision Detected #1 stands as the first appearance of this particular version of Avia, that name has a long and storied history among the New Gods as a whole. The original iteration made her first appearance in 1972’s New Gods #7 in Jack Kirby’s opening story “The Pact.” This Avia was the wife of Izaya, also known as the Highfather, the leader of the New Gods. More importantly, Avia was the mother of Scott Free, better known as Mister Miracle. Although she tragically never lived to see the hero her son would grow up to become even after a lifetime of torment being raised on Apokolips.

Mister Miracle and Big Barda have long been counted among the greatest love stories in DC Comics, if not in the wider realm of pop culture in its entirety. Originally, Big Barda was a member of the Female Furies, the Apokoliptian warriors trained by the murderous Granny Goodness. Big Barda was even the Female Furies’ first field leader, overseeing a team of superpowered threats including Bernadeth, Lashina, Mad Harriet, and Stompa. After falling in love with Scott Free, Big Barda turned her back on her former fellow villains and embarked upon the life of a hero for herself.
