Marvel has revealed a first look at a new comic that sees the legendary X-Men character Magik defending her homeland from an evil vampire army. The new one-shot issue, X-Men: Blood Hunt – Magik #1 goes on sale this June.

Marvel‘s preview of X-Men: Blood Hunt – Magik #1 brings together author Ashley Allen (Marvel Zombies: Black, White & Blood) and artist Jesus Hervas (Marvel Unleashed, What If…? Venom) to tell the titular character’s story as the mutant sorceress fights to save Russia. After surviving the collapse of Krakoa in the X-Men’s Fall of X event, Illyana Rasputina will return to her homeland and find a horde of vampires hellbent on turning the country into their own personal playground.

In addition to the cover art by Rod Reis, Marvel unveiled four preview pages of interior art by Hervas showing Magik in action. When a group of vampires is hunting a family at night, Magik saves the day with her Soulsword, slicing through multiple vampires’ necks in one fell swoop.

Marvel’s Summer Event Sees the Rise of Evil Vampires

Marvel is touting Blood Hunt as its massive summer event for 2024, with a new story that shows the Marvel Universe plunged into darkness as an evil horde of vampires is on the rise. Virtually all of Marvel’s legendary heroes will face the terrifying undead villains in order to put an end to the war of the undead.

Blood Hunt #1 kicked off the event and saw three Avengers meet a gruesome death. More recent issues in the event have put the spotlight on underrated heroes like Marvel’s Union Jack while also seeing some of the publisher’s most well-known villains join the Blood Hunt — on the side of the vampires. The X-Men’s presence in Blood Hunt will be told in four one-shot stories, with Jubilee, Psylocke and Laura Kinney joining the fray alongside Magik.
