Marvel’s new Ultimate Spider-Man finally learns which power he wields that no one can figure out.

After returning to Doctor Otto Octavius’ lab at Oscorp, the titular hero of Ultimate Spider-Man #9 finds his unlikely ally hard at work finishing up what might just be the latest, greatest Spider-Man suit of all time. Considering the capabilities of Harry Osborn’s Green Goblin suit, which was also designed by Otto, it is no surprise that he has taken it upon himself to upgrade Peter Parker’s gear all the same. Unfortunately, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Otto has successfully done so, especially when he still doesn’t understand how Peter’s existing Spider-Man suit actually works.

Marvel’s new Ultimate Universe, Earth-6160, was first seen in 2023’s Ultimate Invasion #1 by Jonathan Hickman and Bryan Hitch. This reality, uncovered by the villainous Reed Richards known as the Maker, was a near identical copy of the original Ultimate Universe of Earth-1610. As such, he could use his powers, resources, and knowledge of past events to guide this world into becoming one effectively made in his own image by preventing the rise of heroes like Spider-Man while manipulating those he could not cull from history altogether.

Following the Maker’s explosive albeit temporary defeat, the young Tony Stark of Earth-6160 took it upon himself to usher in a new era of heroes in anticipation of the villain’s eventual release. To that end, Tony gave Peter a copy of the spider that would have given him his powers and a high-tech Spider-Man suit capable of everything fans would expect and more. Since then, Peter has teamed up with Harry Osborn, the surprisingly heroic Green Goblin, and Otto Octavius, the duo’s primary source of support.

The current Ultimate Spider-Man has also gone up against a handful of enemies in his budding career as Spider-Man including both the Shocker and the Kingpin of Crime himself – Wilson Fisk. Earth-6160’s Kingpin also leads his world’s Sinister Six. Rather than being a ragtag group of supervillains with a shared vendetta against Spider-Man, this Sinister Six is composed of the major crime lords of New York City. These include Mister Negative, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, the Mole Man, and the Black Cat, each of whom has their place in New York City to lord over under the command of Kingpin.
