The following contains major spoilers for Immortal Thor #17, on sale now from Marvel Comics.
Thor’s long-lost son from a terrifying future is officially back, and he could be Asgard’s next biggest problem.
After narrowly surviving a confrontation with some of his worst enemies, the titular hero of Immortal Thor #17 is left staring down one last foe in the form of Amora, the Asgardian Enchantress. Though she and Thor have been at odds for months, the God of Thunder is quick to give her the prize she has been fighting for once he realizes what she is after. As it turns out, all Amora wants is her child returned to life. In spite of knowing full well that Amora always has some trickery at play, Thor grants the Enchantress her wish, never expecting that the son she is looking for is also his, and there is no telling what implications Magni has brought along with him.

Introduced in the pages of 2003’s Thor #68 by Dan Jurgens and Scot Eaton, Magni is the son of Thor and Amora who was born in a future in which the God of Thunder had claimed near-complete control over the entire planet. This came about as a result of a convoluted plot that saw Asgard relocated directly above New York City before both were razed to the ground by an attack from the Consortium of Nations. In the aftermath, Thor lost his worthiness to wield Mjolnir, waged war on his closest allies, and reigned supreme as Lord Thor for decades until he was finally convinced to spare the world of the history it had been subjected to and effectively reset the timeline.
As Magni grew up, he fell in love with a human woman named Jordahl over the course of his many adventures. This drew the attention of Magni’s uncle, Loki, who sought to “correct” his nephew’s budding romance by any means necessary. This was the first of several events which ultimately drove Magni to not only pick up Mjolnir for himself, but to stand against his father’s regime in its final moments. When Lord Thor reset the timeline, he tragically gave up Magni’s existence, which wouldn’t be discovered by Amora for years afterward.
One of Marvel’s Strangest Villains is Out for Moon Knight’s Blood
Moon Knight is headed for a rematch with one of the strangest villains in the entire Marvel Universe, and he is far from ready for it.
The Asgardian Enchantress Amora has been a part of Thor’s world since her debut all the way back in 1964’s Journey Into Mystery #103 in Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s opening story, “The Enchantress and the Executioner!” Born in Asgard to still unknown parents, Amora soon found her way to the Norns where she studied under the impossibly powerful witch Karnilla. In her earliest appearance, Amora teamed up with the Executioner in the hopes of killing Jane Foster and taking her place as Thor’s primary love interest. In the decades since, Amora has become a much more complex character, yet she has rarely escaped her usual trappings as a trickster unto herself.
