Fargo series creator Noah Hawley discusses the potential of a sixth season of the hit crime anthology.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Hawley was asked about whether there might be another season of Fargo down the line. “I have had some thoughts about it. I feel like there’s another story that’s intriguing to me,” Hawley responded. “I don’t know what to say about it, other than I feel like I have something I can develop and work on. But given the priority that Alien is for FX, I don’t have a sense of when we might make another one.” When asked if the relationship he has with FX network affords any idea he believes in to reach production, Hawley explained, “Well, it’s worked out for them so far. We have 70 Emmy nominations over five seasons. I think the success of this year is certainly a strong argument to make more.”

Based loosely on the Coen brothers 1996 film of the same name, Fargo premiered on FX in 2014 to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. The first season of the series was set primarily in the small city of Bemidji, Minnesota, and starred Allison Tolman and Colin Hanks as police officers Molly Solverson and Gus Grimly. Fargo‘s first season also starred Allison Tolman, Martin Freeman, and Billy Bob Thornton, who rounded out the ensemble cast. Since the first season, Fargo has gone on to amass four more with a combined 51 episodes between them.
The series consistently brings together new ensembles of leading and features actors to pit at the center of various Midwestern thrillers. In January, Fargo Season 5 star Juno Temple opened up about her intense fight scene with costar Jon Hamm. “I thought that was absolutely terrifying just when I read it.With the Bible, reading scripture, and with the shackles, and that. I was just like, ‘Wow,” Temple said. Temple went on to recall Hawley himself being uncertain how much of the fight would actually end up on screen due to its overtly graphic nature.
