The X-Men, Avengers and More Join Marvel in Celebrating Fortnite

The world is still reeling from the collision of Marvel and Fortnite in the hit video game’s new season, Absolute Doom, which has special crossover Outfits that combine Marvel characters with original Fortnite characters. In honor of the current season, Marvel Comics will present the melded Outfits on Fortnite Variant Covers for some of its premiere titles throughout November.
The MarvelFortnite Outfits featured are Peelverine (Wolverine and Peely), Meowtooth (Sabretooth and Meowscles), Captain Jones (Captain America and Agent Jones), and Ghost Ri-Durr (Ghost Rider and Durr Burger). Drawn by Iban Coello and Afu Chan in collaboration with Epic Games, the variant covers feature artwork used for special in-game Loading Screens that players can unlock. The covers will grace four Marvel Comics issues, with Avengers #20 and X-Men #7 arriving with the first set on November 6. The Wolverine #3 and Spirits of Vengeance #3 Fornite variant covers will debut on November 20 and 27, respectively.

Fortnite‘s Chapter 5, Season 4: Absolute Doom, ushered in the age of Doctor Doom following the recent announcement of Robert Downey Jr.’s iteration of the iconic big bad becoming the primary antagonist for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A recent update for the season brought new locations, skins, and a superhero-themed Battle Pass for Fortnite players. The update included a new limited-time mode called Day of Doom and a brand-new Iron Man skin.
Marvel recently celebrated Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics by unveiling variant covers drawn by Bengus, the artist responsible for crafting the original Marvel vs. Capcom game’s character designs. The variant covers, featuring Spider-Man, Wolverine, and more, will adorn some of the publisher’s top titles throughout December.
The first wave of Bengus’ Marvel vs. Capcom variant covers will grace All-New Venom #1, Infinity Watch #1, Wolverine #4, X-Men #8, and Avengers #21, available on December 4. Uncanny X-Men #7’s Marvel vs. Capcom variant cover arrives on December 11, preceding the Captain America #16, Fantastic Four #27, and X-Men #9 variants, hitting comic stands on December 18. Finally, the Amazing Spider-Man #64 and Iron Man #3 Marvel vs. Capcom variant covers will arrive on Christmas day.
Marvel Assembles a New Generation of Heroes
Marvel is assembling a new group of teen heroes from its popular New Champions variant covers for a new ongoing series arriving in 2025.
Capcom, in collaboration with Marvel Games, announced the game compilation Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics in June. The game commemorates the Marvel vs. Capcom crossover fighting game franchise and comprises seven arcade titles released between 1993 and 2000. The lineup famously includes Marvel Super Heroes, Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes.
