Co-creator of the fan-favorite The Boys comic book series, Garth Ennis, has launched a brand-new horror imprint alongside other iconic comic creators. The Ninth Circle imprint, published at Image Comics, will release Ennis’ first book under the new banner, Freddie The Fix, on December 11.

Per Deadline, other Ninth Circle co-founders include writers Marguerite Bennett (DC’s Bombshells), Joe Pruett (Negative Burn), and Ram V (The Many Deaths of Laila Starr). ABGO’s Michael Bogner and TFC Management’s David Stone are part of the Ninth Circle leadership team, with lead investor Kimberly Steward(Manchester By The Sea, Suspiria), whose K Period Media production company will partner with Ninth Circle to produce select titles. According to the co-founders, Ninth Circle books “will explore all of the dark avenues of the horror genre, including the paranormal and demonic, slashers, creatures, psychological, and even a dash of comedy, all coming straight to readers from the deepest depths of Hell.”

Written by Ennis, with art by Mike Perkins (Captain America, Swamp Thing), Ninth Circle’s first title, Freddie The Fix, “is billed as a darkly humorous and horrific series that follows Freddie, a fixer who cleans up the messes left behind by the monstrous stars of Hollywood: werewolves, vampires, zombies, aliens, bogeymen, predators, and…things.” The Boys and Punisher writer expressed his excitement about his upcoming Ninth Circle series. “I’ve always been a big horror fan,” Ennis said. “With Freddie the Fix, I hope to shock, thrill, and entertain our fans (and maybe give them a laugh or two along the way).”

Other Upcoming Titles From the Ninth Circle Imprint

Beginning with December’s Freddie the Fix, Ninth Circle aims to deliver double-sized comic book issues each month. Every issue will contain a stand-alone tale of terror. Upcoming comics include works by Marguerite Bennett, drawn by Jill Thompson (Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman, the Scary Godmother series, Wonder Woman), Joe Pruett, illustrated by Butch Guice (The Flash, Winter Soldier, Birds of Prey), and Glass, with art by Bernard Chang (X-Men, Deadpool, Superman), plus additional titles from Ennis, Ram V, and other yet-to-be-announced creators.
