Metropolis’ premier newspaper, the Daily Planet has been a part of the wider Superman mythos since it first appeared in 1940’s Action Comics #23 in Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster’s story, “Superman: Europe at War (Part II).” Apart from its offices serving as one of Metropolis’ major landmarks, it is also the workplace for Clark Kent in his guise as an otherwise ordinary reporter, not to mention the workplace of his closest allies, Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane.
Although Perry White served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Planet throughout numerous iterations of the DC Universe, the title was recently handed down to Lois Lane. After years spent working tirelessly as one of the Daily Planet’s top reporters, Lois seemed like the obvious fit for the job. At the same time, Lois’ own concerns about whether she was the right person for the position haven’t made the transition any easier.
