Marvel Comics has unveiled the full scope of its upcoming Star Wars arc, which begins this October. The new era of storytelling will unfold across three Star Wars: Battle of Jakku limited series, Insurgency Rising, Republic Under Siege, and Last Stand.
Marvel‘s three-part Star Wars: Battle of Jakku saga is set after Return of the Jedi and will chronicle the never-before-told final moments of the Galactic Civil War. Alex Segura wrote the three series, which feature the artistic talents of Leonard Kirk, Stefano Raffaele, and Jethro Morales. Star Wars: Battle of Jakku‘s covers are provided by Phil Noto, Taurin Clarke, and E. M. Gist. First introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as Rey scavenged amongst its wreckage, the Battle of Jakku was a crucial turning point for the galaxy. Empire remnants made their desperate last stand on the sandy dunes of Jakku after the Rebellion discovered their secret base. The Rebellion resolved to destroy them so that the New Republic could thrive.

Marvel recently unveiled previews, which included story details for Insurgency Rising and Republic Under Siege. Series writer Segura is excited for fans to witness this pivotal time in StarWars history. “It’s an unbelievable honor to tell this lost story of Star Wars history, alongside so many amazing artists, in the pages of the three Battle of Jakku limited series. Our story will be epic in scope – involving all the major characters you love, plus some new, exciting additions to the mythos,” he said.
Segura continued, “We’ll not only give readers a front-row seat to the final battle of the Galactic Civil War – we’ll reframe the aftermath of the Battle of Endor and introduce a new, menacing threat that will keep our heroes guessing. The goal for all of us is to turn up the volume and make sure this adventure stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the other stories of the era. As the Empire collapses, a new darkness arises.”
