Star Wars: Acolyte Jedi Master Leads a Prequel

[[{“value”:”

The following article contains major spoilers for the Disney+ series Star Wars: The Acolyte.

Though the news of Star Wars: The Acolyte‘s cancelation cut the High Republic-era series short on Disney+, some of its characters will continue in the pages of Marvel’s comic books. One of the most exciting additions to The Aclolyte‘s cast was introducing the Wookiee Jedi Master, Kelnacca, to the live-action space.

Tomorrow, the new Star Wars character will headline his own one-shot prequel comic titled Star Wars: The Acolyte – Kelnacca #1. The short comic book will dive into the Jedi Master’s past and explore more of the High Republic era, promising to depict some “bombastic” action in the process.

Written by Cavan Scott and illustrated by Marika Cresta, Star Wars: The Acolyte – Kelnacca #1 will give the Wookiee Jedi Master a more focused spotlight on one of the more curious aspects of character left ambiguous in the Disney+ TV series. In an interview with Gizmodo, writer Cavan Scott mentioned that the upcoming one-shot would explain the origin of the multiple tattoos on his head.

Likewise, it will show the struggles of a Jedi Padawan whose master recently passed away and faded into the Force. Along with their pair’s meeting, the one-shot comic looks to chronicle pieces of the wisened Kelnacca’s life before his appearance and fate in Disney+ and Lucasfilm’s The Acolyte. In the live-action Star Wars series, the Jedi Master was revealed to have been living a life of solitude on the planet Khofar. However, he was later killed by the Sith acolyte Mae’s master — the Stranger. Kelnacca’s one-shot will aim to connect its story with the TV series and novels like Justina Ireland’s Star Wars: The Acolyte: Wayseeker and an untitled YA book by Tessa Gratton.

Star Wars: The Acolyte – Kelnacca #1 is on sale on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 from Marvel Comics.
