Spider-Man: Celebrate Thanksgiving With Peter Parker and Mary Jane

[[{“value”:”

Marvel Comics is inviting fans to celebrate Thanksgiving with the Parkers this November. Toward that end, the publisher has unveiled Terry Dodson’s variant cover for Jonathan Hickman and David Messina’s upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man #11, which hits comic book shelves next month.

Hickman has continued to craft a well-received version of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Ultimate Spider-Man. Peter gains his powers much later than his Earth-616 variant and juggles the challenges of being a superhero, a husband to Mary Jane, and a father to his two kids. The book debuted in January as the first ongoing series in Marvel’s fan-favorite Ultimate Universe, forged by Hickman and Bryan Hitch in 2023’s Ultimate Invasion limited series. The upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man #11 will see Peter and his family celebrate Thanksgiving even as more threats to the world he has crafted for himself loom large on the Horizon.

Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man #11 description reads, “With his secret double life out in the open, Spidey joins his wife and kids for a picturesque Thanksgiving feast. But don’t be fooled! The life of this Peter Parker is far from perfect, and with upcoming threats like Black Cat, Kraven the Hunter, and the Sinister Six—not to mention the impending return of the Maker, the deranged alternate universe Reed Richards behind the creation of this corrupt world—Peter will need the support of Mary Jane, May, and Richard Parker more than ever!”

Peter Parker Can’t Marry Jane in the Main Line Universe

Fans have loved seeing Peter and Mary Jane married in Hickman’s Ultimate Spider-Man, and some have been hoping their Earth-616 counterparts will eventually get back together after Mephisto erased their marriage nearly two decades ago. Marvel Comics editor Tom Brevoort poured cold water on such hopes, revealing the character mandates in place at the publisher and how they affect Spider-Man and MJ. “If you’re working for Marvel, the ground rules are all the characters are Marvel’s, and Marvel as an institution gets to decide what’s right and wrong for these characters,” he said.

One Surprising MCU Character Ended Up With the Strongest Trilogy And it’s Not Captain America

The MCU is full of trilogies, but its Spider-Man films as a whole stand above the rest for a few reasons.

Brevoort continued, “So, there are certain things you don’t want Spider-Man to do. He can get back with Mary Jane. He just can’t actually tie the knot with Mary Jane. Those are the ground rules going in. If you’re going to work on whatever character – if you’re going to work on Daredevil, you’re going to have to deal with the fact that he’s blind and probably going to stay that way for a while.”

Ultimate Spider-Man #11 will arrive in comic book shops on November 20, 2024.
