Spawn and Savage Dragon Unite with Blacula in New Killadelphia Preview

Image Comics has released a preview of Killadelphia #35 as the horror comic series gets ready for a jaw-dropping showdown. The new issue will be the penultimate issue of the six-part ‘Death Be Not Proud’ arc.

Killadelphia is written by bestselling author Rodney Barnes with art by Spawn’s Jason Shawn Alexander. The new issue will see Spawn, Savage Dragon and the cursed one known as Blacula come together as the story ramps up for an epic conclusion in issue #36. Image has shared new images from the interior of Killadelphia #35 showing Savage Dragon holding someone at gunpoint while demonic figures feast on their victims in another bloody scene. The new issue will also feature a backup story starring Johnny Gatlin and will also be available in Noir Edition featuring black-and-white lineart interiors. Killadelphia #35 goes on sale Aug. 28.

In addition to Killadelphia #35’s cover art and interior pages, Image Comics also released a graphic advertising the series making its return and noting that the upcoming issue will have ‘No Red Band Required’, but saying that it is still only approved for horror-loving audiences. Issue #35 marks the first new issue of Killadelphia after a six-month hiatus, with issue #34 being released on Feb. 28.

Killadelphia’s Death Be Not Proud Arc Marked Spawn’s Entrance to the Series

Killadelphia’s latest story arc, Death Be Not Proud, began with issue #31, which marked Spawn’s arrival in the series as Heaven and Hell clashed in Philadelphia. Killadelphia #31 began the crossover with Todd McFarlane’s popular character and also served as a new jumping-on point for new readers of the series. Later issues in the arc saw Spawn becoming a bloodthirsty vampire as Savage Dragon entered the mix, with enemies in the series including undead presidents, werewolves and even Lucier himself.

Killadelphia #1 launched the Eisner Award-nominated series back in 2019, as a small-town beat cop went home to bury his murdered father and began to unravel a mystery that took him on a path of horrors. Image Comics’ solicit for the series states: “The city that was once the symbol of liberty and freedom has fallen prey to corruption, poverty, unemployment, brutality… and vampires. Welcome to Killadelphia.”
