Sonic the Hedgehog to Team Up With the Justice League

At the Sonic Central livestream event today, Sega made major news by announcing a significant collaboration between Sega and DC in the near future that will include a comic book series released in March 2025 that will feature Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends both teaming up with famous Justice League superheroes, but also MASHING up with Justice League superheroes, as well, with Sonic, naturally, being mashed up with the Flash!
The miniseries will be written by iconic Sonic comic book writer, Ian Flynn, and will last five issues, with an unrevealed art team on the project so far. This, though, is only a PIECE of what Sega notes will be a significant collaboration with DC in other areas, as well.
DC’s Flash Vs. Sonic the Hedgehog
Both the DC TV’s Flash and the Sonic movies Sonic the Hedgehog are excellent speedsters, but which of them would win?
How was Sonic’s DC crossover first hinted at?
On Batman day, the social media for Sonic the Hedgehog featured an animated teaser to congratulate Batman on his day which showed Shadow dressed up as Batman, and this was the first major hint that Sega had something major planned for DC and its Sonic characters, similarly to how Naruto and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles first suggested a crossover between the characters through some shared merchandise a year before the upcoming Naruto/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover comic book series.
However, on Sonic Central, the news was confirmed in a major way in a livestream featuring Tiffany Smith and Ivo Gerscovich, Senior Vice President of Sega of America discussing the upcoming DC/Sega collaboration.
10 Best Licensed Comic Books, Ranked
From robots in disguise to giant monsters in a galaxy far, far away, comics based on licensed properties are some of the industries’ best books.
What will Sonic and his friends look like as DC superheroes?
The following Sonic/DC mash-ups were featured in the livestream…
Silver the Hedgehog as Green Lantern Tails as Cyborg Shadow as Batman Sonic the Hedgehog as the Flash Knuckles the Echidna as Superman Amy Rose as Wonder Woman
The comic book series is only the first major part of the collaboration. The fact that Sega released an animated teaser suggests that perhaps there will be some sort of animated project in the future, but the only collaborations that Gerscovich confirmed is that there will be merchandise made available with Sega/DC working together, released in Fall 2025 (he noted apparel, accessories, and toys), and presumably these mashed-up characters will play a major part in that area, much like the aforementioned Naruto/TMNT clothing and hats that are being sold in a number of stores.
