McFarlane Toys has unveiled brand-new Green Lantern figures as part of its DC Multiverse line. Green Lantern (Green Lantern Corps) McFarlane Collector Edition #22 will soon be available for pre-order.
The toy company revealed on X (formerly known as Twitter) that the Green Lantern collectible edition will launch pre-order on August 16 at select retailers and include head portraits of two legendary corp members, Abin Sur and Tomar-Re. Perhaps best known as the predecessor of Hal Jordan (chosen by his ring as his replacement), Abin Sur first appeared in John Broome and Gil Kane’s 1959 comic Showcase #22. A native of the planet of Ungara, he is appointed by the guardians as the green lantern of Space Sector 2814. Created two years later after Abin Sur by Broome and Kane, the Xudarian Tomar-Re debuted in GreenLantern #6. A former scientist, he became the Green Lantern of Sector 2813.
The DC Multiverse’s Greatest Green Lantern Variants
The main DC universe is filled with unforgettable Green Lantern characters like Hal Jordan, but the multiverse has also introduced powerful variants.
McFarlane Toys released a new Phygtail figure, currently available at select retailers, inspired by Green Lantern’s DC Silver Age era appearance. The Hal Jordan 7″ scale figure possesses ultra articulation, with 22 moving parts allowing a full range of posing and play. The toy comes with a power battery, two green flame effects as well as extra hands, and a display base. The figure arrived with a collectible art card and digital authentication code to be redeemed for a McFarlane Toys Digital collectible. It is then added to a virtual showroom where fans can display their figures and view them in 3D.
McFarlane Toys recently unveiled a brand-new DC Multiverse 2-pack inspired by the cult classic film Batman Forever. The 2-pack, which launches pre-order on August 15, comes with light and sound. It includes a figure of Batman’s closest ally, Alfred Pennyworth, inspired by the iconic British actor Michael Gough’s iteration in the 1995 movie. The pack also includes the Batmobile, which looks straight out of the Joel Schumacher film. It features Batman Forever‘s stylized design, with the bat symbol on the wheels and the car’s neon green lights.
Ryan Reynolds Throws Shade at His Infamous Green Lantern Movie
Deadpool & Wolverine’s Ryan Reynolds again seizes the opportunity to take shots at his widely panned 2011 Green Lantern movie.
The toy maker also revealed a new DC Multiverse Azrael Batman Armor figure. The figure is a 7″ fully detailed figure of Azrael, complete with intricately designed wings, gauntlets, a special blue and red cowl, and gold-accented armor. The Azrael figure is listed as one of McFarlane Toys’ Platinum Edition figures, and its EQL launch is for a special chase variant with blue wings.
