Marvel Celebrates the MCU With Spider-Man, Thor and More

Marvel Comics will celebrate the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a way only the publisher can. Marvel Studios variant covers, showcasing artwork by Marvel Studios’ Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding, will adorn several of the publisher’s most popular titles, including Amazing Spider-Man and Avengers, in September.
Per Marvel, Meinerding’s September Marvel Studios variant covers will arrive for Immortal Thor #15, Amazing Spider-Man #57, Incredible Hulk #17, Avengers #18, Phases of the Moon Knight #2, and Avengers Annual #1. The lineup also features two wraparound variant covers for Avengers Assemble #1 and Amazing Spider-Man #58. Meinerding’s stellar art depictions of Marvel’s most beloved superheroes are inspired by their MCU designs. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, Paul Bettany’s Vision, and Josh Brolin’s Thanos are all spotlighted.

With excitement for Avengers: Doomsday growing, here are some things fans need to know before the movie.
The new variant cover line will offer fans a glimpse of what to expect from Meinerding’s upcoming art book, slated to arrive on October 1. Marvel Studios: The Art of Ryan Meinerding covers “the breadth of Meinerding’s work on the Marvel Cinematic Universe with illustrations, sketches, character designs, insights, and much more. The variant covers pull from Meinerding’s long career with Marvel Studios, stretching back to the early days of Iron Man (2008).”
The next project in Marvel Studios’ pipeline is the upcoming Disney+ series, Agatha All Along, a spinoff of its highly successful show WandaVision. Preceding the September series’ was the recent arrival of the Marvel Unlimited-exclusive House of Harkness Infinity Comic #1. The series takes Wanda Maximoff’s Scarlet Witch back to school, where she sparks a rivalry with Agatha Harkness.
Ultron Could Make a Return to the MCU in a Surprising Twist
While fans focus on characters like Doctor Doom and Red Hulk, a past Avengers’ threat, Ultron, may make a return as an even more powerful threat.
Penned by Preeti Chhibber, House of Harkness also features other gifted students such as Stephen Strange, Loki, Nico Minoru, Jericho Drumm, and Morgan Le Fay. The alternate universe story puts a new spin on fan-favorite characters, heroes, villains, and everything in between, as a magical mystery unfolds at the mystical House of Harkness.
Marvel’s House of Harkness Infinity Comic #1 description reads, “For the first sixteen years of her life, Agatha Harkness reigned supreme at the House of Harkness, the magical boarding school run by her family for the last sixteen generations. Meinerding’s Marvel Studios Variant Covers will grace Marvel Comics titles throughout September, heralding the arrival of Marvel Studios: The Art of Ryan Meinerding on October 1, 2024.
