Jonathan Hickman and other all-star comic creatives have launched a Kickstarter campaign for their story, 3 Worlds / 3 Moons, or 3W3M. The crowdfuding initiative will be a starting point for their new comics universe.

In 2021, Hickman (X-Men, Avengers), Mike del Mundo (Thor) and Mike Huddleston (Decorum) joined forces for 3 Worlds / 3 Moons, an ambitious project that serves as the backdrop for countless stories for “any creator with an idea.” Since its inception, the project spawned a website (3w3m.com) with a community of over 30,000 subscribers who have produced over a thousand pages of comics and world-building as a result of the 3W3M initiative. Now, Hickman and his collaborators are announcing 3W/3M [ONE], which is the ultimate starting point for the new universe. The Kickstarter campaign for the project will contain the “core stories that set the stage for everything to come”. The project has currently raised over $25,000 of its $50,000 goal and is available for support until Nov. 28.

The campaign will have something for current fans of the 3W3M universe as well as new readers looking to catch up on previous releases. A full slate of deluxe hardcovers that collect nearly all the material the creators released on the 3W3M website will be available across three books and two anthology volumes, marking the first time the content has ever been made available to non-subscribers. Each tier of the Kickstarter also includes a digital pass, giving fans the full high-quality digital PDF of all the books and a six-month trial to 3W3M.com and its upcoming mobile companion apps.

An assortment of preview pages from 3W3M were shared via BleedingCool that show the rich sci-fi story that fans can expect to find with the new project. The 3W3M [ONE] book will be the definitive starting point, introducing readers to the core concepts, characters and conflicts with no other reading required. It will contain three stories and is available for purchase in a deluxe hardcover as well as three standalone prestige collectors editions.

The 3W3M [ONE] book will also serve as a launchpad for future stories in the universe. It contains three stories, including ‘Foundations’ which was originally released as a subscriber-exclusive in 2022 and has now been expanded. The story introduces the protagonist, Tajo Vallar, as he goes on a “doomed mission to a distant moon full of magic and mystery”. ‘Shift’ is also included, introducing “two great players in eternal conflict who will help shape the age to come”. Lastly, ‘Arrivals’ gives readers a guided tour of the universe and leads directly into what Jonathan Hickman has planned for its future.

In addition to the new 3W3M [ONE] collection and the accompanying sourcebooks of previously released material, the Kickstarter campaign also offers fans the chance to pick up signed deluxe copies, collectors sets and more. Add-ons include variant covers, lenticular covers and limited edition prints by Huddleston and Mundo.
