Marvel Comics will celebrate the reprinting of a classic Godzilla comic with a series of variant covers that feature the legendary monster unleashing havoc across the Marvel Universe. A total of 21 variant covers will be released throughout September.

Marvel will reprint the classic ’70s Godzilla comic book series in Godzilla #1 (Facsimile Edition) and the highly-anticipated Godzilla: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus, which collects Doug Moench and Herb Trimpe’s entire 24-issue run in color. Fifteen of Marvel’s upcoming Godzilla Variant Covers have been revealed, and they show the King of Monsters in scenes with iconic Marvel characters, including the Avengers, the X-Men, Spider-Man, Deadpool and Venom. The first batch of variant covers goes on sale Sept. 4, with more arriving each week with Marvel’s new releases.

In addition to the fifteen covers, the Godzilla variant cover art will appear on Exceptional X-Men #1, Spider-Boy #11, Captain America #13, Amazing Spider-Man #58, Phoenix #3, and Uncanny X-Men #2. The cover art for these issues is expected to be revealed in the near future.

Marvel’s Reprints Continue to Expand Godzilla’s Wide-Reaching Stories

Marvel’s announcement of the reprinting of Godzilla #1 and the arrival of the Godzilla: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus are just a small part of the Legendary Monsterverse character’s adventures in comics. Earlier this year, IDW revealed a new Godzilla miniseries titled Godzilla: Skate or Die, where Godzilla and Varan will endanger a skate park in central Australia.

Marvel’s superheroes aren’t the only ones to join forces with the epic monster, either. DC’s Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong concluded earlier this year with an epic battle that saw characters like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman unite with Godzilla and Kong to fight a new titanic threat.

Marvel’s Godzilla Variant Covers will go on sale throughout the month of September.
