CBR can exclusively reveal that Dark Horse Comics will publish a new fantasy series, Welcome to the Maynard. Eisner Award-winners James Robinson and J. Bone will write and illustrate the series respectively.
The indie comics publisher describes Welcome to the Maynard as a mix of fantasy and mystery, with the first issue featuring magic, mystery, spells, sorcery and “first-class hotel room service”. Set in a hotel for magicians, witches and otherworldly beings, The Maynard is a unique hotel where every guest and staff member “has magic in their veins.” Welcome to the Maynard #1 arrives Nov. 27 with cover art by J. Bone and a variant cover by Chris Samnee, both of which can be seen below.

Robinson’s Welcome to the Maynard is Filled with Mystery and Hope
Dark Horse‘s new fantasy series reunites Robinson with J. Bone, with the two co-creating the alien horror series The Saviors back in 2013. Their new work together is quite different — with Welcome to the Maynard having elements of mystery and danger but also being filled with hope and joy.
DC Unveils its Expanded San Diego Comic-Con Lineup
DC will have a big presence at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, with the publisher announcing a larger booth, exclusive merchandise, and panels.
In the press release announcing the new series, Robinson revealed it was written to appeal to all ages. “It’s a thrill to be reunited with my dear friend J. Bone. I love his art and his collaborative spirit, both, so Welcome To the Maynard has been a joy to write,” he said. “I’m also excited to do a series (akin to Leave It To Chance, back in the day) that can be enjoyed on different levels, by readers young and old.”
