The Last Ronin, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ answer to The Dark Knight Returns, has become such a monster success that it has spawned its own mini-comic book universe (the “Roninverse”) continuing the adventures of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe in an alternate future where the original Turtles have all been killed. However, in their place is a new group of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles who are carrying on their predecessors’ mission in this new hit series, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin II Re-Evolution.

Who are the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

Raised and trained by Casey Marie Jones (the daughter of Casey Jones and April O’Neill), the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles all share a naming convention like how the original Turtles were named after famous Renaissance painters. Here, the Turtles Moja, Odyn, Uno, and Yi are all named after the number one (in different languages).

These Turtles have mastered ALL the weapons of the original Turtles, rather than having a specialized weapon each, but they have also had a very different training than what Splinter gave the original Turtles, and this is all with April O’Neill questioning whether her daughter should have trained them as ninjas at ALL (as Michelangelo, the “Last Ronin” of the original series, had tried to teach a final lesson of knowing peace.
