EXCLUSIVE: Flash Gordon Returning for Second Arc

Fans of one of science fiction’s most popular icons will be pleased to learn that the eponymous hero is returning for a brand-new story arc, beginning in Flash Gordon #6. Mad Cave Studios has announced that the upcoming issue, which is the first of five, will hit comic book shelves in February 2025.

Mad Cave Studios promises “a changed universe” in the five-part Flash Gordon arc helmed by the returning series writer Jeremy Adams (The Flash) and series artist Will Conrad(Amazing Spider-Man). Lee Loughridge (The Batman Chronicles) provides color for Flash Gordon #6, lettered by Taylor Esposito(Red Hood and the Outlaws). Zach Howard (Wild Blue Yonder) will draw variant covers colored byNelson Dániel(Night Thrasher) for each issue of the upcoming Flash Gordon arc. The #6-10 variant covers will spotlight different members of the Flash Gordon cast and their respective homeworlds.

Mad Cave’s Flash Gordon #6 description reads, “After their escape from Planet Death, Flash and his ragtag group of misfits embark on a dangerous journey across the galaxy to return to their home world. Flash Gordon writer Adams is excited about the upcoming arc and his collaboration with Conrad. “It’s a thrill to continue the story of Flash Gordon! Working with Will Conrad, dreaming up big adventures and even bigger threats, and we have no plans on slowing down, taking Flash Gordon in new directions for old and new fans alike,” he said. Series artist Conrad echoed Adams’ sentiments. “After the fun Jeremy and I had working on the first arc of Flash Gordon, I can’t wait to jump into the continuation of this amazing experience on the next adventure,” he enthused. Conrad is hopeful fans will love the series.

The Legacy of Flash Gordon

Created and drawn by Alex Raymond, Flash Gordon debuted on January 7, 1934, as the main protagonist of his eponymous space adventure comic strip, inspired by the 1929 Buck Rogers adventure strip. Regarded as one of the greatest and most influential American adventure comic strips, Flash Gordon spawned several live-action and animated adaptions, including the 1980 movie starring Sam J. Jones.
