CBR can exclusively announce that Mad Cave Studios will publish a Dick Tracy Valentine’s Day Special. The issue will feature two romantic-themed mystery stories starring the iconic detective.

The first tale included in the special, titled “Hollywood Babylon,” is written by Alex Segura (The Legendary Lynx) and Michael Moreci (Barbaric) and features art by Craig Cermak (The Cursed Library). Mad Cave Studios’ solicit for the story teases Dick Tracy working overtime to solve a case on Valentine’s Day: “When a string of murders occurs on the set of a romantic movie filming in The City, Dick Tracy is on the case. In this world of glitz and glamour, where everyone tells a story but no one tells the truth, Tracy races against the clock to separate fact from fiction and stop this killer before they fulfill their promise to strike again — on Valentine’s Day!”

The second story, “Heartbreak Alley,” is written by Steve Orlando (Scarlet Witch, Gatchaman: Galactor) with art by Brent Schoonover (Howling Commandos of SHIELD). The story sees Tracy investigating a series of bizarre deaths before he is transported into the life of his dreams. The solicit teases that there’s more than meets the eye about Tracy’s newfound life: “But what is lurking behind this locus of love?”

The Dick Tracy Valentine’s Day Special will be released with cover art by Geraldo Borges and a variant by Paulina Ganucheau. Dick Tracy’s Ongoing Comics Branch Off With Valentine’s Day One-Shot

Dick Tracy’s Valentine’s Day Special includes a story from the authors behind Mad Cave’s currently ongoing Dick Tracy series, Alex Segura and Michael Moreci. In the press release announcing the Valentine’s Day story, Seugra spoke about expanding Dick Tracy’s comics to include side stories like the upcoming special. “It’s been wonderful to see readers responding to our work on the Dick Tracy ongoing — and even better to have our friends at Mad Cave let us expand the publishing program to include fun one-off stories, like the Dick Tracy Valentine’s Special,” Segura said. “Getting to pair with an artist like Craig, an old friend who is on the cusp of breaking out in a big way, to tell a memorable story featuring Dick Tracy and Tess has been a true thrill. We hope readers new and old get a kick out of it.”

Moreci added, “We’ve been so grateful for the success of Dick Tracy — our readers have been so enthusiastic and loyal — and, to me, this feels like an issue made with them in mind.
