Doctor Doom to Take Over the Marvel Universe

[[{“value”:”

Doctor Doom is already a major player in the Marvel Universe, of course, as the leader of Latveria, and being one of the smartest (and most dangerous) villains on the planet. However, according to Marvel, as revealed at Comic-Con International at San Diego, Doom is going to be even MORE important, as he effectively takes over the Marvel Universe in a new event titled One World Under Doom.

This will tie in with the ending of Blood Hunt, where the world-threatening vampire assault on Earth can only be stopped by Doom, and only if he is allowed to become the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth. Doom has long been a dangerous mixture of science and magic, and now he has the complete package as the new Sorcerer Supreme.

What is One World Under Doom?

Marvel released a teaser for One World Under Doom, drawn by Ben Harvey, which shows the heroes of the world all bowing down before Doom.

Historically, Doom has had the heroes of the world bowing before him in a few different instances before, but those times always involved Doom brainwashing the public (like the Emperor Doom graphic novel), and the implication that that is not what the deal is with Doom and the world now.

Marvel has not revealed, though, whether this is a miniseries, a crossover, or just a general “umbrella” concept, like when the company did Dark Reign, which was just a general “Things are bleak in the Marvel Universe” umbrella concept, and not a specific crossover.

How does Doom become the Sorcerer Supreme?

The specific, of course, will only be revealed in Blood Hunt #5 (by Jed MacKay and Pepe Larraz), but the ending of Blood Hunt #4 saw Doom insist that Doctor Strange pass the title on to him if he wanted Doom’s help, and the preview art that Marvel shared at SDCC reveals that Doom does, in fact, take over from Strange.

In addition, Marvel revealed more details from the upcoming Eight Deaths of Spider-Man storyline, and it turns out that that story involves Doctor Doom enlisting Spider-Man’s help on a magical mission, one in which Doom will be giving the Arachnid hero eight lives in which to help on the mission.

Doom has long been a contender every time the Sorcere Supreme title has gone up for grabs, and so it makes sense that he finally grabbed the title.
