DC Reveals the Absolute Universe

[[{“value”:”

Joshua Williamson and Scott Snyder have officially announced DC‘s new “All-In” initiative, which will launch a brand-new universe as part of the Absolute Universe, but will also tie in with a new Darkseid-centric storyline that will kick off new stories for all of DC’s current titles in October, which will start with DC All-In #1 by Williamson, Snyder, and artists Daniel Sampere and Wes Craig.

The new initiative will not be a retcon, but rather, as Snyder noted in the announcement, “All In is about inviting everybody in — the existing creators, some new creators, everything — to tell their best stories, and to begin them all at one point. The idea is to create the greatest jumping-on point for you guys in many, many years.”

What DC Could Learn From Marvel’s Best X-Men Comics

Marvel’s merry mutants have always pushed boundaries and introduced new characters, things DC could do well to pay attention to.

A bit of an issue for Snyder and Williamson is that they don’t want to spoil the finale of Mark Waid and Dan Mora’s hit crossover series, Absolute Power, but suffice it to say that SOMETHING will happen in the fourth and final issue of Absolute Power that will lead to a new storyline where a new world is created, this is where the Absolute Universe will be based.

However, while Absolute Comics will be its own continuity, it is actually still tied together with the regular DC Universe, and this will all tie together in a few years. Meanwhile, all of DC’s titles will have jumping-on points in October, along with brand-new creative teams on a number of titles, like Action Comics, Detective Comics, Titans, Batman and Robin, Harley Quinn, Nightwing, and Catwoman. The series with creative teams remaining on board (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, and Poison Ivy) will be launching new storylines, as well.

The best weapons Amanda Waller has against the heroes of the DC Universe might not be built to last, and it’s a major problem for everyone.

The Absolute Universe will be set on a world where Darkseid was in control, and as a result, superheroes are very much the underdogs on this world, which will influence the new take on the characters in this shared universe group of titles.

Some images of the Absolute Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman have appeared on social media…

DC has still not yet revealed the creative teams on all of the other Absolute Universe titles, outside of Snyder and Nick Dragotta on Absolute Batman.
