DC Reveals First Three Absolute Universe Titles
[[{“value”:”
After first revealing the fact that it WILL be doing a new line of comic books in their continuity called the Absolute Universe, DC today reveals who the first three titles will be in this new universe, as well as the creative teams on three books, which will launch beginning in October with titles starring each member of DC’s iconic “Trinity” of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.
DC also revealed more details about the DC All-In #1 special one-shot that will kick off both the Absolute Universe, as well as the next step in DC’s regular DC Universe group of titles (the comic books that will continue with their continuity from before this event started, so imagine the DC New 52 launching, but the established titles also continuing. Sort of like that).
The Creative Teams for DC’s New Absolute Comics Line Revealed
The creative teams for DC’s upcoming Absolute Comics line have been revealed, including Scott Snyder, Jeff Lemire, Al Ewing, Kelly Thompson, and more
DC has revealed both the solicitation for DC All-In #1, as well as all three covers for the issue: the main cover by Daniel Sampere, a variant cover by Wes Craig, and a second variant cover by Rafa Sandoval (there will be a third variant cover by John Giang, but it was not revealed just yet).
Here is the solicitation:
Following the events of Absolute Power, the heroes of the core DC Universe have fought against the deep divisions in the world around them to usher in a new era of unity.
And it’s just in time, too—because Darkseid has returned! Superman gathers every DC Super Hero on Earth to hold the line against a vastly different version of the Lord of Apokolips as they raise our cosmic defenses and prepare for war. And when the first blows land, the shock waves will ripple across DC’s core series, shaking the nature of their realities to their very foundation!
But a greater threat looms on the horizon in the Absolute Universe. Here, DC’s biggest icons come of age with fewer advantages while facing greater opposition than ever before and retaining the immutable heroism that continues to inspire and entertain fans. But can they really protect the light that shines inside them when the world in which they live is hurtling toward a terrible destiny?
That will come out on October 2nd, and the Absolute Universe begins the following week with Absolute Batman #1.
What DC Could Learn From Marvel’s Best X-Men Comics
Marvel’s merry mutants have always pushed boundaries and introduced new characters, things DC could do well to pay attention to.
Who are the creative teams of the first three DC Absolute Universe titles?
Here are the first three Absolute title, along with brief descriptions of each one from DC’s press release.
First, on October 9th, we get Absolute Batman from Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta…
In this iteration, fans will be introduced to a version of the Dark Knight that doesn’t have the money, mansion, or butler of his core-line counterpart.
Next, on October 23rd, we get Absolute Wonder Woman from Kelly Thompson and Hayden Sherman…
For Diana, there is no island paradise, no sisterhood to shape her, nor a mission of peace—so what is the purpose of an Amazon warrior in this new universe?
Finally, on November 6th, we get Absolute Superman from Jason Aaron and Rafa Sandoval…
Writer Jason Aaron and artist Rafa Sandoval join forces to present a new Man of Steel with the launch of Absolute Superman #1. This Superman has no family, no Fortress of Solitude, and no home. Will he still stand for truth, justice, and a better tomorrow in this new universe?
