Dark Horse Comics has announced its second Marvel art book collaboration based on the work of the legendary Jack Kirby. The Marvel Comics Covers of Jack Kirby Volume 1, now available for pre-order, will hit comic book shelves in January 2025.
The publisher recently announced its new partnership with Marvel Comics regarding the publication of in-depth art books, which kicks off this October with the arrival of The Art of the Amazing Spider-Man. The Marvel Comics Covers of Jack Kirby collects Kirby’s cover art in a beautifully designed hardcover format. Per AIPT, Dark Horse’s press release reveals the art book will reproduce Kirby’s Marvel Comics covers alongside commentary, providing insights into the Marvel icon’s composition and artistic process. The 184-page first volume is available for pre-order on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, TFAW, and comic shops for $49.99.

Dark Horse and Marvel’s Art Book Collaboration
Last month, Marvel and Dark Horse Comics announced their multi-year publishing partnership. The collaboration will feature art books focusing on new video games, artist monographs spotlighting legacy Marvel talent, typography, graphic design, and retrospectives celebrating the history of Marvel collectibles. The collaboration includes the launch of Bullpen Books, a new line of deluxe art books that honor the works of legendary Marvel Comics characters and creators.
The Art of the Amazing Spider-Man will be the first to arrive on October 15, featuring essays on the iconic John Romita‘s work, covers, and original art scans from the Marvel archives. Marvel and Dark Horse’s upcoming art book projects include explorations of other iconic Marvel artists, writers, letterers, and colorists, plus insights into some of the publisher’s most iconic franchises.
Dark Horse President and Publisher, Mike Richardson addressed the new partnership. “I grew up with the Marvel characters and their creators from my earliest days, so I’m very excited about this new collaboration,” he said. “We’re very excited about working with Marvel to highlight some of the greatest art and artists from their extensive library. I’m sure these books will be a special treat for comics fans everywhere,” Richardson added.
Dark Horse‘s The Marvel Comics Covers of Jack Kirby Volume 1 is now available for pre-order and will arrive in comic book shops on January 8, 2025.
