Batman Gets Special Anniversary Art by Final Fantasy Illustrator

DC Comics is celebrating 85 years of Batman with special art exhibits around the world. The comics publisher has paired with different artists, including Final Fantasy artist Yoshitaka Amano, for different pieces depicting The Dark Knight in a new Batman 85 Artist Series.

The Batman 85 Artist Series includes seven artists, including Caledonia Curry (Swoon), Hebru Brantley, Joao Marco, Sandra Fabara (Lady Pink), Mirka Andolfo, Ram Han and Yoshitaka Amano. The famed Final Fantasy artist shared his contribution to the series on his Instagram account, with DC revealing the other pieces in a recent press release for the art series. Anime News Network reported that it was also announced by DC that the seven pieces will be exhibited at events in Japan, Germany, China and other locations around the world.

DC’s special Batman 85 Artist Series art exhibits will also feature merchandise that includes the art pieces in the exhibit. The official online DC Comics shop has been updated to include some merchandise, such as a premium poster and a t-shirt featuring Yoshitaka Amano’s artwork. DC’s YouTube channel is also celebrating the announcement of the Batman 85 Artist Series with a special video conversation with artist Hebru Brantley. It remains to be seen if the other artists from DC’s YouTube series, including Yoshitaka Amano, will have their own videos.

The Batman 85 Artist series is the latest of many celebrations that DC Comics has planned to celebrate Bruce Wayne’s 85 years in the world of comics. Earlier this year, The Dark Knight took over New York City with an incredible pop-up comic book giveaway that gave fans copies of the character’s first comic book appearance in 1939’s Detective Comics #27.
