DC has shared a first look at Aquaman‘s new comic book series ahead of the launch of the DCU. The new title will be part of DC’s All-In publishing initiative.
The new series is led by Jeremy Adams (Green Lantern, The Flash) and John Timms (Harley Quinn, Superman: Son of Kal-El). The debut arc, “The Rising Tide,” will pit Aquaman against “an army of giant water-based kaiju monsters,” further establishing the character’s role in the core DC Universe and reminding readers how he is connected to the events of the DC All-In Special. DC recently revealed its lineup of cover art for the debut issue, including a main cover by Timms and variants by Ivan Reis, Brad Walker, Tula Lotay, Salvador Larroca, Christian Ward and Brad Walker. Aquaman #1 goes on sale Jan. 8, 2025.

DC’s newly revealed interior artwork from the debut issue of the new Aquaman series begins with a look at the history of the character, showing Arthur Curry’s life on land and at sea as ruler and with his beloved Mera. The next page flashes back to one year in the past, showing a disaster occurring at sea, with Aquaman jumping in to save the day as a terrifying kaiju monster unleashes a vicious attack. Aquaman and Mera appear to work together to save the citizens before returning to their blissful underground kingdom.

Mammoth water-construct Kaijus have emerged from each of the seven seas, and only Aquaman’s water-warping abilities can stop them — but not if they kill the good king in the process! Enter Dagon, Arthur’s guide on the quest to unlock the secrets of the “blue.” But what deadly secret awaits Arthur on his journey?”
New Aquaman Series Part of DC’s Latest All-In Lineup
Adams and Timms’ new Aquaman comic series is the latest title in DC’s All-In Publishing initiative, which presents two different narratives that form one universe-changing story. The events started in October with the DC All In Special one-shot story by Scott Snyder, Joshua Williamson, Daniel Sampere and Wes Craig, which gave readers a glimpse of the new world in the DC Universe — the Absolute Universe — as well as the new future for the core DCU.
Patton Oswalt’s Cult Hit to Get New Series
Dark Horse Comics unveils a brand-new Welcome to Twilight anthology series from the world of Patton Oswalt and Jordan Blum’s Minor Threats.
For the new initiative, DC has switched up the creative teams behind some of its most popular titles, with series like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and more serving as fresh entry points for readers to jump into the action. The publisher has also launched its new Absolute Universe titles, beginning with Absolute Batman, Absolute Superman and Absolute Wonder Woman. Each of the new series shows DC’s iconic heroes re-imagined as underdogs, with exciting twists on their origin stories. The Absolute Universe appears to be resonating well with fans so far, with both Absolute Superman #1 and Absolute Batman #1 being rushed back to print after selling out shortly after their debuts.
Aquaman #1 hits comic book shops on Jan. 8, 2025 from DC Comics.
