An MCU Icon Just Gave Marvels Future Venom a Weapon He Doesnt Even Understand

[[{“value”:”

The following contains major spoilers for Venom #39, on sale now from Marvel Comics.

One of the most dangerous gods in the Marvel Universe just created a weapon that could change the course of history.

Venom #39 finds the elder, time-displaced Dylan Brock facing off against the Asgardian Trickster God Loki in a battle that neither of them were expecting. As it turns out, Dylan came in search of help rather than another opponent, and he is willing to pay for Loki’s help. Thanks to the Dark Elder God Chthon, Dylan is in possession of a substance that neither he nor Loki fully understand, yet both of them are well aware of how much power they will wield once it has been reforged into a proper set of superpowered bullets.

The future Dylan Brock first appeared in Al Ewing and Iban Coello’s closing story from 2024’s Free Comic Book Day 2024: Ultimate Universe/Spider-Man #1. This version of the character hails from a dark, desolate future in which nearly all life has been snuffed out by a breed of sentient symbiote-machine hybrids. These creatures were brought into form as a result of Eddie Brock maintaining his bond with the Venom symbiote, a prophecy which in turn kicked off the events of Marvel’s Venom War.

Apart from traveling through time itself, this elder Dylan Brock has gone so far as to traverse dimensions in search of any help that he can find. This desperation drove him to seek out the Dark Elder God Chthon, who agreed to give Dylan the help he was looking for in exchange for a price most would never dream of paying. In exchange for the shimmering, gold substance which Loki has recently helped refashion into bullets, Chthon stole away Dylan’s entire sense of self, leaving him with few memories other than those of the mission at hand.

The new Deadpool just had a family reunion she never saw coming, and it could be the answer to her biggest problems.

While the elder Dylan and his younger self have taken up arms against Eddie Brock in order to avert a tragic future, Eddie himself has stood firm against his son for the exact same reason. Like Dylan, Eddie was shown a vision of the future in which the Marvel Universe is torn asunder, all because of his son’s connection to the Venom symbiote. This was proven true of yet another Marvel icon, specifically Peter Parker, who got to see what the future would look like should he maintain that bond, only to discover that not even Spider-Man could avoid a post-apocalyptic outcome should he choose to remain bonded to Venom.
