First appearing back in 1963’s The Amazing Spider-Man #2 by Steve Ditko and Stan Lee, Adrian Toomes was the second Marvel supervillain to take up the mantle of the Vulture after Isodoro Scarlotti, a former villain of the original Human Torch, Jim Hammond. Though Toomes wasn’t the first Vulture, he is the most iconic version of the character thanks to his years-long hatred and constant battles with Spider-Man. Over the years, Spider-Man and the Vulture have crossed paths on countless occasions, yet things took a drastic turn when Miles and Tiana embarked upon their romantic relationship with one another.
Tiana Toomes made her Marvel Comics debut in the pages of 2019’s Miles Morales: Spider-Man #5. Initially, Tiana hoped to follow in her grandfather’s footsteps as the villainous Starling, though it wasn’t long before she decided to take on a different kind of career altogether. Despite having taken part in numerous crimes, Tiana has largely played the role of an antihero in her more recent appearances, especially after beginning a relationship with Miles.

Tiana went on to play key roles during several major Marvel Comics storylines revolving around Miles and his fellow Spider-Man. Possibly the most iconic of these was Miles’ ongoing war against the villainous technopath known as Rabble. When Rabble teamed up with the likes of the Hobgoblin, Miles found himself seriously outmatched. Miles had to rely on allies of any ilk he could find, including those he knew well — such as Tiana — and those who once had him set in their own sights such as Mac Gargan, aka the Scorpion.

Spider-Man
Since his first appearance in 1962, Spider-Man has almost always been Marvel Comics’ most popular character. Known for his sense of humor and bad luck as well as his selflessness and super-strength, Spider-Man has helmed countless titles over the years, Spider-Man’s most prominent comics include The Amazing Spider-Man, Web of Spider-Man, and Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man.
Peter Parker was the original Spider-Man but the Spider-Verse has become an important part of the character’s lore in recent years. Multiversal and future Spider-Men include Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Miguel O’Hara and Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham. This provided the premise for the popular Spider-Verse film trilogy, which makes Miles its primary hero.
Spider-Man is also the basis of several live-action film franchises and numerous animated television series. He is one of the most recognizable characters in the world. While he’s changed a lot over the decades, Steve Ditko and Stan Lee gave the world an unforgettable hero when they created Spider-Man.
