Marvel Is Releasing a Bunch of Free Comics

Marvel Comics has unveiled its Free Comic Book Day line-up of titles for 2025. The publisher’s comic book line-up features the prelude to an upcoming X-Men saga and entry points into all-new eras of Amazing Spider-Man and Fantastic Four.
For the second year running, Marvel will spotlight a Star Wars book, while diverse creators and characters will also get to shine in a special Free Comic Book Day Marvel’s Voices edition. Younger readers will have a Free Comic Book Day Spidey & His Amazing Friends edition to look forward to. The titles, which arrive on May 3, are Fantastic Four/Giant-Size X-Men #1, Amazing Spider-Man/Ultimate Universe #1, Star Wars #1, Iron Heart/Marvel’s Voices #1, and Iron Man & Awesome Friends/Spidey & His Amazing Friends #1.
A Classic X-Men Team Just Broke Up
One of the most powerful and unnerving mutant teams in the Marvel Universe have just broken up, and it may have cost one of them her powers.
Preceding the MCU arrival of Marvel’s First Family in Fantastic Four: First Steps, writer Ryan North and artist Humberto Ramos’s story will see the titular team respond to a “most unusual interdimensional summons.” Comic scribes Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing will then bring an extra mutant to the party in a story directly preceding the All New, All Different X-Men. Marvel promises a surprise in store from Chip Zdarsky in Fantastic Four/Giant-Size X-Men #1, which also features the art of Iban Coello and a main cover by Ramos.
In Amazing Spider-Man/Ultimate Universe #1, writer John Kelly and artist John Romita Jr. will remind readers “who Peter Parker and Spider-Man are,” while Deniz Camp, Cody Ziglar, and Jonas Scharf will provide an exclusive prologue to Summer 2025’s eagerly anticipated Ultimate event. Pat Gleason drew the cover art for the Amazing Spider-Man/Ultimate Universe Free Comic Book Day issue.
Marvel Unveils Marvel Rivals-Themed Variant Covers
Venom, Spider-Man, and Storm are among the comics promoting Marvel’s hotly anticipated free-to-play video game.
Iron Heart/Marvel’s Voices #1 will see Marvel celebrate the one-year anniversary of Marvel’s Voices with bestselling writer Justina Ireland’s story that “blasts Ironheart into Chicago’s past for a story of Black innovation through the ages.” Featuring the art of Julian Shaw, a cover by Edwin Galmon, as well as the work of several other writers and artists, the Free Comic Book Day edition will explore the past year of Voices anthologies. Expect to see fan favorites such as Mystique, Destiny, Patriot, and Ghost Rider.
Younger readers will not be left out of the fun with the arrival of Iron Man & Awesome Friends/Spidey & His Amazing Friends #1. Iron Man, Iron Heart, and Iron Hulk will feature as a team for the first time in the comic which will herald the coming of their Disney Jr. show. Spidey, Ghost-Spider, and Spin will also swing into action in the Free Comic Book Day title.
Marvel will extend its new Star Wars era celebration by presenting Star Wars #1 on Free Comic Book Day. The title features the creative talents of writers Alex Segura, Charles Soule, and Marc Guggenheim, as well as artists Phil Noto, Luke Ross, Stefano Raffaele, and Madibek Musabekov. Star Wars #1’s description reads, “Luke Skywalker finds himself in a wretched hive of scum and villainy facing off against pirates! Jedi Knights Qui-Gon Jinn & Tensu Run are on the hunt for the villainous Corlis Rath! Who is the mysterious Vanee and what is his connection to Darth Vader & Kylo Ren?”
Marvel’s Free Comic Book Day titles will arrive on May 3, 2025.
