Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man series will celebrate the holidays with its final issue of 2024. A new first look at the special issue shows Peter Parker and his family coming together at a holiday gathering.

ComicBook.com shared new interior art from Ultimate Spider-Man #12 showing the Parker family gathered around the Christmas tree, with characters including Uncle Ben, J. Jonah Jameson and Mary Jane all making an appearance. Throughout the pages, MJ and her family have a conversation in the kitchen before Peter joins her as the two share a quiet moment together away from the rest of the family. Ultimate Spider-Man offers fans a different take on Peter Parker’s journey as Spider-Man, depicting him as a father whose family knows and supports his superhero life. Ultimate Spider-Man #12 will conclude the second arc — and first year — of Ultimate Spider-Man by Jonathan Hickman when it hits comic shops on Dec. 18.

ComicBook also unveiled a new variant cover for Ultimate Spider-Man #12 by artist Pepe Larraz which shows Peter in his Spider-Man costume as the young May catches him. Various Spider-Man action figures, including Doctor Octopus and Green Goblin can be seen scattered on the floor, along with an open issue of a Spider-Man comic.

The holiday celebrations are likely to be a brief moment of peace in Ultimate Spider-Man’s life, with the first issue of the series releasing in 2025 already teasing a new conflict involving Kraven the Hunter, the Sinister Six and Kingpin. Ultimate Spider-Man #13 has been dubbed by Marvel as “Hickman and Checchetto’s love letter to Kraven’s Last Hunt” and will be released in January 2025.

Marvel Teases Big Changes in the Ultimate Universe for 2025

Jonathan Hickman and Bryan Hitch’s Ultimate Invasion limited series launched the Ultimate Universe in 2023, telling the story of The Maker (Reed Richards of Earth-1610) as he created a new world order and made Earth-6160 with an entirely new alternate history. The Ultimate Universe has gone on to feature new interpretations of beloved Marvel heroes, putting unique twists on their familiar stories. Ultimate Spider-Man debuted in January of this year, starring an older Peter Parker who becomes Spider-Man later in life — after already getting married to Mary Jane Watson and fathering two children.

The holiday issue of Ultimate Spider-Man wraps up Peter’s first year in the Ultimate Universe, and Marvel has already teased how 2025 will continue to see the Ultimate Universe expand with new characters. A year-ending one-shot special will show Nick Fury’s important role in the Ultimate Universe, and a deadly assassin version of Ultimate Wolverine was also teased. Wolverine’s ongoing series is the first new Ultimate Universe title to be announced for 2025, with more expected to follow as the year goes on.
