Venom Wars Most Horrifying Symbiotes Just Gave a Classic Spider-Man Foe a New Lease on Life

[[{“value”:”

The following contains major spoilers for Venom War: Zombiotes #3, on sale now from Marvel Comics.

The most terrifying symbiotes of all time have just given a classic Spider-Man villain another lease on life.

Venom War: Zombiotes #3 finds the Shocker, She-Hulk, Overdrive, and the other unfortunate inhabitants of the Bar With No Name being entirely overwhelmed by the Zombiote swarm that has made its way inside. Though the remaining holdouts are at an obvious disadvantage, the Bar With No Name has an exceptionally loud sound system, one capable of sending the Zombiote infestation scurrying out the door. Better yet, those who were consumed by the Zombiotes have had their previous wounds completely healed, even the formerly undead Boomerang.

Frederick Myers, better known as Boomerang, made his Marvel Comics debut all the way back in Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Bill Everett’s story “The Stage is Set!” from the pages of 1966’s Tales to Astonish #81. An Australian native who moved to the United States at a relatively young age, Frederick found a fast career in Major League Baseball as an all-star pitcher. After being swept up in a bribery scandal, Frederick was pushed out of the game, leading him to use his incredible talents as the costumed criminal – Boomerang.

While Boomerang is best known as an overt villain, his career has taken some surprising turns thanks to his generally likable demeanor. Over the years, Boomerang came to terms with his more horrific acts, as well as did what he could to make up for them. Eventually, he even managed to form a meaningful friendship with Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, who Boomerang ultimately sacrificed his own life to save during the events of 2021’s Sinister War event.

Marvel Introduces a Future Fist of Khonshu Who Might Be Even Better Than Moon Knight

The new Hunter’s Moon has finally arrived, and the next Fist of Khonshu might be even more capable than Marc Spector ever was.

During Marvel’s currently ongoing Venom War, Boomerang’s body was stolen by the Shocker and Overdrive, only for it to be infected by the Zombiote ooze that was swept over New York City. This particular strain of symbiote was created by the future, villainous iteration of Eddie Brock known as Meridius. Crafted under the guise of being a sort of weaponized version of the Venom symbiote that could be harnessed for good, Meridius made his way into the boardroom of Roxxon before unleashing the Zombiotes upon an unwitting populace.
