Nick Fury’s Important Role in Marvel’s Ultimate Universe Revealed

Nick Fury will soon play an important role in Marvel’s Ultimate Universe. A new one-shot story featuring Fury will set the stage for Marvel’s upcoming year of Ultimate Universe stories to come.

Deniz Camp and Chris Condon’s Ultimate Universe: One Year one-shot gives a glimpse at Fury’s important role in the Maker’s Ultimate Universe, with Marvel revealing a first look at the interior art of the story that gives readers a glimpse of Fury in action. The pages show him, along with the Maker’s council, as they convene to discuss the rise of super-heroes on Earth-6160 who are trying to bring peace and hope to the Maker’s corrupt universe. Two other preview pages show the arrival of Ultimate Wolverine in the one-shot. Marvel also unveiled cover art, including a piece by comic book legend Frank Miller depicting the Maker and an epic cover by Josemaria Casanovas that will connect with other ongoing Ultimate Universe titles. The Ultimate Universe: One Year In one-shot goes on sale Dec. 11.

December’s one-shot story prepares Marvel’s Ultimate Universe for another year of creative storytelling, with the issue also featuring the debut of Ultimate Wolverine. The character will go on to star in his own solo series, the first to be released in 2025 and the fifth in the Ultimate Universe overall. Marvel has already teased that the new Ultimate Wolverine will stay true to Wolverine’s roots as a government weapon, but the Ultimate Universe will put a twist on things and see him be a mindwiped assassin who is used by the Maker.

The Ultimate Universe: One Year In one-shot hints at the deadly nature of the new Wolverine, who is dubbed as the ‘Maker’s ultimate weapon, the Winter Soldier’ in the one-shot, which includes a prequel story to Condon and Alessandro Cappuccio’s Ultimate Wolverine series which debuts on Jan. 15.
