Marvel’s Making a Massive Change to Luke Cage in New Solo Series

Marvel Comics has announced a brand-new Luke Cage series. Power Man: Timeless will feature the older version of the character first introduced in the publisher’s Timeless anthology, where Cage has the abilities of Sentry, Iron Fist, and the Hulk in addition to his own.
Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing will pen the five-issue limited series, with art by Bernard Chang. Power Man: Timeless #1 will feature Andrei Bressan’s cover and will hit comic book shelves next February. Kelly and Lanzing return as scribes after helming Luke Cage/Power Man’s story in Marvel’s Timeless. Featuring the art of Juann Cabal, the end of that story teased that the character had traveled back in time and would embark on new adventures in the present-day Marvel Universe, where the current version of Luke Cage is still the Mayor of New York. Power Man: Timeless will have the multi-powered Luke face a mysterious new enemy.

Marvel’s Power Man: Timeless description reads, “HE IS UNSTOPPABLE. INDESTRUCTIBLE. INCORRUPTIBLE. IMMORTAL. And utterly alone. He is Power Man. Ripped from the breakout story in Timeless, the god-slaying, Gamma-powered, Iron-Fisted, Sentry from the future Luke Cage arrives in the modern Marvel Universe, only to discover a foe, and a mystery, that will challenge even his incredible abilities! From Timeless scribes Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing and artist Bernard Chang, Power Man is a guided tour of the solar system that only Marvel Comics could provide!”
Luke Cage’s appearance in 2023’s Timeless had him battle the Immortal Moon Knight, a being created by the combination of the mysterious Eternal Machine, various Stark technologies, and the God of the Moon himself – Khonshu.

Could We See Luke Cage in Live-Action Again?
Luke Cage actor Mike Colter would love to return to the role after Netflix’s The Defenders Saga became an official part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Sacred Timeline. Charlie Cox is returning to play the titular Man Without Fear in Daredevil: Born Again, which premieres on Disney+ in 2025. Colter would not mind a similar treatment for Luke Cage, admitting that he “would totally entertain a good script and idea that made sense.”
“I would love to explore it, if they found some story, some way, somewhere, to take it. And I’m happy that Charlie Cox and those are getting it rebooted, but I don’t have any [idea if Luke Cage is getting rebooted]. I’m not holding anything back,” Colter said.
