Jessica Jones has been a fan-favorite Marvel hero since her introduction in the pages of 2001’s Alias #1 by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos. Though Jessica grew up in a relatively ordinary household, a freak car accident cost Jessica her parents, all while imbuing her with superhuman strength and a nearly indestructible physique. Eventually, Jessica took on the superhero lifestyle as Jewel. Unfortunately, everything took a turn for the worse when she became the object of Zebediah Killgrave, aka the Purple Man’s obsessions.
Thankfully, Jessica managed to free herself from Killgrave’s clutches, and while she gave up her career as Jewel, she has continued to play the role of a hero at nearly every turn. Jessica has gone on to become a fixture of the New York City street-level hero scene, even finding a lifelong romance with none other than Luke Cage. Recently, Jessica faced off against an army of variants of herself from across the Multiverse, and in doing so came to terms with the darkest parts of herself all over again.
Marvel’s New Infinity Watch, Explained
Marvel has a new iteration of the Infinity Watch to keep guard over the most powerful artifacts of all time, and not all of them are superheroes.
Gwen’s search for Black Tarantula is the latest step in the sprawling mystery that began when she was first targeted by the shape-shifting Chameleon. Somehow, the Chameleon has regained his genuine superpowers, seemingly at the expense of himself on every level. Though the Chameleon can perfectly replicate others and their powers, he has lost the ability to control them, leading him to shift into a grotesque amalgamation of the Sinister Six in their entirety before falling into a dire, near-comatose state.

Spider-Man
Since his first appearance in 1962, Spider-Man has almost always been Marvel Comics’ most popular character. Known for his sense of humor and bad luck as well as his selflessness and super-strength, Spider-Man has helmed countless titles over the years, Spider-Man’s most prominent comics include The Amazing Spider-Man, Web of Spider-Man, and Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man.
Peter Parker was the original Spider-Man but the Spider-Verse has become an important part of the character’s lore in recent years. Multiversal and future Spider-Men include Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Miguel O’Hara and Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham. This provided the premise for the popular Spider-Verse film trilogy, which makes Miles its primary hero.
Spider-Man is also the basis of several live-action film franchises and numerous animated television series. He is one of the most recognizable characters in the world. While he’s changed a lot over the decades, Steve Ditko and Stan Lee gave the world an unforgettable hero when they created Spider-Man.
