The official synopsis for Daredevil: Unleash Hell promises plenty of blood-soaked action ahead for Elektra, reading, “The violence and the occult swirling across the Marvel Universe find their way to Hell’s Kitchen! As grisly crime scenes start manifesting across the city, all signs point to an impossible perpetrator! Estranged from Matt Murdock, it’s up to Elektra to get to the grisly truth, if she can stomach it!”
Schultz opened up about her time on the series, noting, “It’s been such a pleasure to continue writing Elektra, especially donning the horns.” Schultz continued, “In this new series, we have the opportunity to show that just because she doesn’t kill doesn’t mean she won’t make you wish she had. Elektra has been known for her brutality, and we’ll see that on display here. Also, with a Red Band rating, that means we can get real nasty with stuff. Don’t know what I mean? You will. Valentina Pinti and I are very excited to show you this new direction.”
An Original X-Men Icon is Already Clashing With His New Team
One of the most iconic X-Men is beginning to go down the same dangerous path that led his predecessor to become an outright villain.
While Elektra Natchios has served as a foil, foe, friend, and romantic interest for Matt Murdock’s Daredevil for decades, it wasn’t until 2020’s Daredevil #25 by writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Marco Checchetto that she took up the mantle of Woman Without Fear for herself. This came about after Matt was incarcerated as Daredevil for an unwitting act of manslaughter he committed in the course of an otherwise ordinary patrol. Although Matt was ultimately freed from prison and has since returned to the role of Dardevil for himself, Elektra has continued to play the part of Daredevil as well, giving Hell’s Kitchen one more hero to look out for it.
Daredevil: Unleash Hell #1 is set to arrive in comic book stores on Jan. 8, 2025.
