Last month, Marvel teased the story of Tony Stark’s new legacy with a special foil variant cover for the debut issue, and now the new trailer features never-before-seen artwork. “Tony Stark is on top of the world,” it teases. “But what goes up must come down.” Iron Man #1 goes on sale Oct. 23.
Marvel’s Ultimate Doctor Doom Just Proved How Far He’ll Go to Bring Back the Fantastic Four

Marvel’s solicitation for Iron Man #1 teases the brutal new era Tony Stark is going to face. “Roxxon and AIM team up to take on Stark Unlimited! But they’re ready for the old Tony Stark. This one? He’s a lot angrier than he used to be. Iron Man is going to war! New armor, old enemies, and unbelievable twists abound in this fresh take on a fury-powered Iron Man.” Marvel has also teased that the new story will see Iron Man more willing than ever to “fight back, play dirty, and unleash every bit of his intellect” to bring his enemies to justice.
Spencer Ackerman was awarded the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service following his groundbreaking coverage of Edward Snowden’s global surveillance revelations. His book, Reign of Terror: How the 9/11 Era Destabilized America and Produced Trump, was named one of the best nonfiction books of 2021 by The New York Times and The Washington Post. In the world of comics, Ackerman’s other credits include 2023’s DC Black Label comic miniseries, Waller vs. Wildstorm, which he co-wrote with Evan Narcisse. “Winning a Pulitzer is cool and all, but it’s not writing for Marvel Comics,” Ackerman said in Marvel’s press release for Iron Man #1. “And to write Iron Man is a very specific dream come true. A lot of comics’ best creators have used Iron Man to tell big stories about security and freedom — with a whole lot of super hero action, of course — and I can’t wait to build on their legacy.”
