Skybound and Image Comics have released a preview for Transformers #12. In Daniel Warren Johnson and Jorge Corona’s upcoming issue, which marks the second arc finale of the Energon Universe story, Autobots and Decepticons could permanently alter the fate of Earth and Cybertron.
Skybound’s Transformers #12 preview reveals the continued escalation of hostilities between the old foes. “The fate of two worlds is decided here, as the Autobots and Decepticons make choices that will change the universe forever,” the publisher’s description reads. In addition to the main cover by Johnson and series colorist Mike Spicer, the list of variant covers for Transformers #12 includes an open-to-order cover by series artist Corona and Spicer, an incentive variant continuing the connecting cover series by Karen S. Darboe (Bloodline: Daughter of Blade), and two other incentive variant covers by artists Cory Walker (Invincible), and Chris Stevens.
This Forgotten Transformers Autobot Should be Featured in the Next Live-Action Movie

The Transformers and G.I Joe shared Energon Universe officially began last summer with the surprise first appearance of the iconic Transformers character Jetfire inVoid Rivalsby Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead), Lorenzo De Felici (Kroma), and Mateus Lopes (Step by Bloody Step). Johnson (Extremity, Do a Powerbomb, DC’s Wonder Woman: Dead Earth), Corona (Middlewest), and Spicer kicked off a brand-new Transformers era for the iconic franchise. The Energon Universe further expanded with the launch of Josh Williamson’s Duke and Cobra Commander limited series.
Other Energon Universe series include Scarlett, from writer Kelly Thompson (Black Widow, Birds of Prey), andartist Marco Ferrari (Frontiersman), and colorist Lee Loughridge (I Hate This Place, Killadelphia); and Destro, from writer Dan Watters (Loki, Universal Monsters: Creature from the Black Lagoon Lives!), artist Andrei Bressan (Dark Ride, Birthright), and colorist Adriano Lucas (Dark Ride, Birthright), which introduce the iconic characters of the G.I. Before there were the Autobots and Decepticons, even before there was Cybertron, there was Primus and his family of gods and demigods.
Skybound recently announced an upcoming young adult graphic novel, Transformers: Worst Bot Ever: Meet Ballpoint, set to arrive in July 2025. The publisher’s description for the book reads, “The Decepticons are known for being bad…but Ballpoint is truly the worst – the biggest failure of them all. After the latest attempt to take down the Autobots goes horribly wrong, he’s kicked out of the Decepticons for good! Will Ballpoint be able to prove his worth by defeating the Autobots all by himself? Or will he keep failing and find that being the “best” is… More than Meets the Eye?”
Transformers #12 will arrive in comic book shops on September 11, 2024.
