The Energon Universe Celebrates Void Rivals’ Rare Achievement

Skybound and Image Comics have announced a historic tenth printing for Robert Kirkman‘s Void Rivals #1. The issue, which launched the Energon Universe, will return to comic book shops this September.
The new printing of Void Rivals #1 is “certified Skybound Gold” to commemorate the issue’s rare achievement of a tenth printing. The issue introduces pilot Darak and his rival Solila as they crash-land on a desolate planet and must work together to escape. Void Rivals #1 will be reprinted with ten different covers featuring art by some of the industry’s top artists, including Lorenzo De Felici, Jason Howard, Andrea Milana, Daniel Warren Johnson, E.J. Su, Andrei Bressan and Conor Hughes. A special foil edition of the issue’s original main cover by De Felici will also be available when Void Rivals #1 goes back to print on Sept. 11.

Skybound will publish an original graphic novel about a new Decepticon in the Transformers universe who has been dubbed the “Worst Bot Ever”.

Void Rivals #1 is the comic that launched Skybound’s shared Energon Universe, which includes Void Rivals characters alongside the stars of the G.I. Joe and Transformers franchises. Void Rivals #1 marked the appearance of the iconic Transformers character Jetfire, celebrating the historic collaboration between Hasbro and Skybound, which would go on to launch numerous other comic book titles, including the G.I. Joe miniseries Duke, Cobra Commander, Destro and Scarlett.
In Skybound’s press release announcing the upcoming reprinting of Void Rivals #1, Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo De Felici both spoke about how the excitement surrounding the Energon Universe and the Void Rivals series. “Ten reprints means at least one thing: the beating heart of the Energon Universe is pumping strong,” De Felici said.

“The excitement around the Energon Universe is like nothing I’ve ever experienced,” Kirkman added. “It’s a tremendous honor to be the inaugural series to reach Skybound Gold status. Fingers crossed we’ll soon be seeing a Skybound Platinum edition!”
The tenth printing of Void Rivals #1 will be available in comic book shops on Sept. 11 from Skybound and Image Comics.
