Marvel’s latest supernatural team of superheroes are still hard at work well after the events of Blood Hunt have come to a close.

On a dark night in the heart of Brooklyn, a young couple make their way across the city streets in the hopes of making it to an upcoming show before the festivities begin. Unfortunately for them, a roving band of vampires are set on making sure that doesn’t happen. At least, that is until the eponymous team of Marvel Comics’ Blood Hunters #1 arrives to join in the fight.

The beginnings of the team that now consists of Dagger, Elsa Bloodstone, Hallow’s Eve, and the White Widow took place in May in Blood Hunters #1, the anthology series that slowly brought together a core cast of characters amidst the blood-soaked backdrop of Marvel’s Blood Hunt crossover event. With vampires washing over every corner of the globe, nearly every hero and villain ended up taking part in the fight, though many fell to the bloodthirsty hordes along the way.

The events of Blood Hunt began shortly after Blade struck down the living embodiment of evil known as the Adana. Somehow, the ancient sorcerer turned Marvel’s very first vampire known as Varnae took advantage of the aftermath of Blade’s war against the Adana and possessed the Daywalker entirely. From there, Varnae unleashed the powers of unwitting Darkforce-wielding heroes and villains all across the globe in order to black out the skies above Earth and usher in an era of endless night.
