Marvels Midnight Sons Reveals Where Blade Ended Up After Blood Hunt

[[{“value”:”

The following contains major spoilers for Midnight Sons: Blood Hunt #3, on sale now from Marvel Comics.

Blade has found a quiet corner of the world to settle into in the aftermath of Marvel’s Blood Hunt, but one supernatural hero already knows exactly where to find him.

After closing off the gateway to Hell itself hidden deep within a haunted Chicago hospital and helping seal off the forces of the very first vampire, Varnae, the eponymous heroes of Midnight Sons: Blood Hunt #3 are finally able to rest easy knowing that their world is finally safe once more. At least, that is the case for everyone but Tulip, who wastes no time traversing the globe to hunt down the man behind the monsters who nearly consumed them all. As it turns out, Blade has made his way to a cozy, secluded temple in Thailand where he can contemplate everything that has happened to him in recent months in solitude.

Marvel’s original Midnight Sons were brought together in the pages of 1992’s Ghost Rider #31 by writer Howard Mackie and artist Andy Kubert. Originally, the team consisted of the surviving members of The Nine, a group of supernatural heroes who suffered a brutal attack from within that not all of them escaped. In the wake of their teammates’ deaths, the rest of The Nine regrouped and reorganized themselves as the Midnight Sons to continue their work protecting the world from the worst threats that the likes of Hell had to offer.

The Midnight Sons were brought back together during the events of Marvel’s Blood Hunt to stave off the global vampiric threat unleashed by one of their own founding members – Blade. As was revealed throughout Blood Hunt, Blade was possessed by the infernal spirit of Varnae, a once ancient sorcerer who allowed himself to be gruesomely sacrificed and transformed into the first vampire in the Marvel Universe. After amassing an army of vampires, Blade organized a planet-wide assault that saw numerous unwitting Darkforce wielders’ powers unleashed, blacking out the skies and setting in motion what could have been an eternal night.

The Marvel Universe has a brand-new Sorcerer Supreme — and he is already becoming a problem.

Ahead of the release of Midnight Sons: Blood Hunt, writer Bryan Hitch opened up about bringing back classic yet largely unsung characters such as Victoria Montesi. “I’m generally more interested in the characters that haven’t gotten as much spotlight, because there’s a lot of room to explore them,” Hill stated. “Writing the characters at the center of culture is a lot like working with a major celebrity on a film or show, there’s an inherent level of interest there and that’s fun to have, for sure.”
