EXCLUSIVE: Marvel Reveals Its Horrifying New Mix of Zombies and Symbiotes
[[{“value”:”
Marvel is getting ready for its newest crossover event next month, as the battle between Eddie Brock and his son, Dylan, for control of Venom, is going to spill over into the rest of the Marvel Universe in the Venom War. Naturally, all of Marvel’s various symbiotes are going to be involved, plus some NEW symbiotes are going to be introduced.
One of the most shocking new additions to the Marvel Universe will be a group of symbiotes who have the ability to reanimate dead people, creating what Marvel, naturally, is referring to as “Zombiotes.” In an exclusive reveal to CBR, Marvel shares a first look of the first issue of the miniseries introducing these new characters, due out next month.
Venom Officially Has His Own Army of Kings in Black
Marvel’s Kings in Black have finally rallied around their one true self to take on the biggest threat Venom has ever known.
VENOM WAR: ZOMBIOTES #1 (OF 3)
CAVAN SCOTT (W) • JUAN JOSE RYP (A) • JUAN FERREYRA (C) STORMBREAKERS VARIANT COVER BY FEDERICO VICENTINI VARIANT COVER BY CHRIS CAMPANA DEAD OR ALIVE? OR BOTH? As the two Venoms face off, a darker strain of symbiote has slithered across New York City…one that can reanimate the dead and turn the living into an engine of mindless hunger with just one bite! That’s right – zombie symbiotes making symbiote zombies! And you thought they liked eating brains before! 32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
Venom War is about the confrontation between Eddie Brock and his son, but as Al Ewing noted in a Marvel press release, the event
is what we’ve been building to since the start of this wild and way-out symbiote odyssey—the fateful confrontation between father and son! Where better to have it than inside the squared circle? And who better to bring this all-action epic to the page with than my old buddy Iban Coello? I’m tellin’ ya, goo believer—this is vehemently varied Venom violence like never viewed, and only one host can wear the symbiote when the dust settles! Who’s it gonna be?”
Speaking of Zombiotesto Looper, writer Cavan Scott noted, “I’m very excited to be working as part of the ‘Venom War: Zombiotes’ event, masterminded by our genius editor Jordan D. White and my old pal Al Ewing! And to be telling not just a zombie story but symbiote-flavoured zombie at that, brought viciously to life by the sensation that is artist Juan José Ryp! Think of ‘Venom War: Zombiotes’ as ‘Shaun of the Dead’ meets ‘The Superior Foes of Spider-Man’ with a little added ‘She-Hulk!’ Oh, and don’t let anything bite you, not unless you’re near the Bar with No Name!”
This Iconic MCU Character Is Venom’s Most Dangerous Host
Venom finds a deadly new host — making a dangerous MCU villain even more powerful than ever before.
What is happening on the first look pages?
Juan Jose Ryp is an artist known for his brilliant depictions of violence in his comics, and the double-page spread from the first look shows that in full effect, as he depicts the sheer horror of the Zombiotes on the regular New York City residents.
Meanwhile, we see She-Hulk and Hellcat get involved, and since we’re dealing with zombies here, She-Hulk doesn’t have to worry about cutting loose, meaning even MORE gore!
Finally, as Scott alluded to in his reveal to Looper, the villains of the Marvel Universe are also going to get caught up in these Zombiote attacks.
We’ll find out more next month, when the Venom War kicks off properly (on August 7th), and Venom War: Zombiotes #1 is released.
